For this post, I will share some shots of the American Merchant Mariners' Memorial in Battery Park
And since it is Monochrome Monday hosted by @old-guy-photos let me start with a zoomed in shot of a portion of the memorial in Mono,
This particular portion of the memorial is what always catches my eye as the most powerful portion of the sculpture

I think for some statues and sculptures the wear of the weather and birds, can take away from the piece, but in this case I think it makes it more dramatic which is fitting for this sculpture.

This sculpture/Memorial Major depicts a merchant marine vessel that was sunk in WWII.the figures are made of bronze and the boat of fibre reinforced conrete.
in 1988 a contest was held to design this memorial and the slection was made for this design by Marisol Escobar and was dedicated in October 1991

Isnt it so powerful, this is in Battery Park, not far from where people captures te Ferries out to the Statue of liberty and Elis Island
