Working at a Pirate hotel

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

Normally the hotels I stay in are pretty standard fare and relatively similar to each other. Some are newer, some fancier, some rundown but, similar. When I booked this trip I got a work compliant suggestion that looked different, so I took the chance.

It is built in an old port building and has been converted with a kind of nautical/ Pirates of the Caribbean kind of feel to it. It is pretty luxurious considering the size of this city and I have heard the restaurant attached is one of the best in the town.

There is quite an eclectic mix of features in here like these anodized chains at the entrance,

These nautical ropes with patterned mirrors that hang in the stair gap and extend four floors,

The octopus wallpaper (there is matching carpet in my room so the carpet kind of matches the drapes),

Or this stairway to the top floor that is constructed from pieces of old tables and chairs.

The room doors are 3D hologram images, the kind of which adorned many a ruler in the 80s - with the plastic ridges, remember?

The room is quite small but well appointed and the bathroom is functional but still has a warmth to it. I am not normally a fan of this kind of decor but for a couple of nights, it is actually a nice change of feel.

But right now, I have some more prep work to do before tomorrow's session but, one glass of red Tuscan wine is an appropriate accompaniment to get the mental juices flowing.

At home, my house is white and grey but the other day my wife and I were talking about one day having a place that is a bit warmer than we have chosen in the past while still remaining relatively minimal. I like the industrial look s lot though so, let's see if I can fight the urge to make it all flat concrete.

Tomorrow the training session is again going to be one of those intense experiences and, they have changed specifications at the last minute which will require on the fly adjustments throughout the day. I have also decided on experimenting with a different training approach so, this might be an unmitigated disaster waiting to arrive.

I'm ready either way.

No disasters as you are Taraz. We all know you have super powers and overcome the impossible. Tomorrow will be fine as I don't know of anyone else who has the thinking capacity to overcome any situation but you.

Lol, I screw up all the time but try not to let it screw me over for the next time I make an attempt. Fail and learn or, Flearning as @fknmayhem would call it.

Looks pretty nice. Still, if you ain't got a rum-swigging pirate whipping ya, it ain't the authentic pirate experience ;)

At least you can get some rest. The travel arrangements are insane (four planes)

Environments always set the tone so enjoy the change and the experience tomorrow! Best of success my friend!
