Free-balling in Helsinki

in #investing5 years ago

The title is not a typo. I am in Helsinki for the night to prep for a training delivery tomorrow and forgot to pack underwear. That's a first. As much as I would prefer to walk into the session "a little free", I thought it would be best if I picked up some underwear in the city before moving onto my middle of nowhere hotel.

It isn't quite the outback, they have wine.

Talking about hanging out in Freedom - tomorrow the first round of PAL payouts will be delivered and I suspect that there will be some dumping but, not as much as there was during the airdrop. The reason is that most of the people who are going to get most of the payouts are likely the more active and the more invested accounts on the platform, meaning they are likely going to understand that this is an opportunity to stake up for the future.

Many of the people who are still active on Steem after all this time are also likely the ones who have worked hard to stay active and earn, meaning they have learned and understand that they would be in a very different position if they had been 2016ers or 7 cent buyers. These types are likely the ones who got the larger airdrops and also likely have more Steem so dumping PAL for pennies doesn't get them much but, staking up to be future dolphins and orcas is too tempting. they know the opportunity is too good to miss, too good to dump.

I could be wrong of course ( rarely ;D ), but the sentiment I have seen around my blog and in various posts is that those who are more in the know, are taking a chance on it. Some are buying in more heavily, some are pledging to stake up, some are looking to attempt to make PAL a healthy experience for the future.

This is the land of Freedom though and I have heard much of the same statements before on Steem. "If Steem was a dollar I would buy so much" and, " I am all in on Steem". Things change of course in this world and that is no different for Steem users. There is a saying, "It is a woman's prerogative to change her mind" and on Steem and in crypto it seems that there are people who change their mind and backflip several times a day.

Steem life is an emotional one for many and it can be very draining. I know this well enough as I have invested a lot of myself into the platform over the years and plan on continuing to do so for years to come. For me it is an investment for more than myself and even more than my family as I believe there is a great deal of potential for us here now to develop and build a framework that can support very large and diverse populations in many ways.

While it is often billed a social experiment, to me it seems more like a groundswell movement that looks to change the world from the roots up and return a balance to the world of ownership and distribution of wealth and service. It isn't a charity however and I think while needed at times, the need for charity is somewhat of a symptom of a sick system as in a healthy one, there would be no need for charity - it would be collaboration. Collaboration means to work together, not give to each other.

Work is the dirtiest of the four-letter words considering how much people try to avoid it. Part of this is due to a society that has glorified easy life and what I call, workless wealth. It is everyone's dream to live work-free, to retire early and live a life of pleasure and leisure, but in my experience, the happiest people are the ones who work successfully. The sense of success at what they are doing is important, even while they are grinding away.

For me, this is something I believe is going to drive the tokenization process as people are accustomed to acting for reward already, it is just that this time that reward isn't a pat on the back, but a transfer that goes into the bank account. And being the bank is also part of the ownership plan. While not every token is going to have monetary value, they can add to the experience of the ones that do. For example, currently Snax has no value, yet I believe that at least on Steem, it does add to the interaction and consideration to develop the greater crypto conversation. That does have value.

Mainstreaming is going to take place after the public discourse develops and the future of a tokenized world gets accepted in the minds of the average person. This is something that even many of those in crypto don't understand as instead of holding, they dump all they get into fiat and then wonder why the industry isn't growing faster. at some point though, there will be more collaborative efforts where crypto users become crypto spenders, so rather than cashin gout they build a world that accepts what the crypto they hold.

This all takes time and while I sound much like a broken record or a crazy man on the corner babbling about the future, it is coming and those who are willing to increasingly live the crypto life are going to be the drivers of the bandwagon. where we take it, the rest will follow and for the first time in a thousand years of history or more, it is up to us to drive the direction.

Well, it has always been up to us.

In a supply and demand market it is the consumer with the power, not the corporation as all they do is provide what the consumer demands. Perhaps we all need to start looking at our list of demands and recognizing that the position we find ourselves in, is self-inflicted as consumers.

Tomorrow I will power up some more PAL. And some more Steem.

With or without underwear.

I have a feeling you will bring your entire company to Steem with its global network and maybe create a side-chain to tokenize it.

My plan is long term to do a great deal of onboarding en masse. Target entire companies instead of individuals :)

I was laughing a good amount of time before being able to proceed with the rest of the post XD What a thing to forget, maybe you should seriously consider not extending steem time into sleep time XD

I've staked most of the paldrop and am going to see how I go doing my magic numbers again (kind of stalled with that with steem itself because I'm struggling to hit my magic numbers...but also haven't really been helping myself in that regard XD).

Work is just effort invested in something. Think too many people are conflating "work" with their job as it never occurs to them that most of the things they enjoy doing involves work XD

I told my clients about it :D

Ain't this the truth. Every job has good and bad, some more of one than the other though :)

So you are going commando lol. I have forgotten other things ,but never my jocks. I think it is a fascinating experiment and looking forward to how this one unfolds. The title was an appropriate one tonight.

I forget things all over the place. I have a terrible memory :D
