What is plagiarism?

Taking someone else's idea or work and claiming it as your own without the author's or creator's permission. This guideline applies to both published and unpublished content. Plagiarism is a disciplinary violation according to academic rules.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

Complete Plagiarism
Complete plagiarism is the most serious type of plagiarism . It occurs when an author or researcher plagiarizes someone else's work and submits it under his or her own name. This is a form of intellectual property theft.

Source Based Plagiarism
This happens due to different sources . For example, when a researcher incorrectly references a post it’s a source based plagiarism. It's also a source-based plagiarism if a researcher mentions the primary source but not the secondary source.

Direct Plagiarism
This is when an author copies another author's work word for word without citing it. This is an academic violation.

Self Plagiarism
This is when an author uses part of his own previously published material without citing it.

Accidental Plagiarism
Plagiarism is plagiarism, whether it is intended or not.
Accidentally plagiarism mostly occurs by mistake and not intentional.

Paraphrasing Plagiarism
This entails making small alterations to someone else's work before using it.Paraphrasing Plagiarism is the most common form of plagiarism.

HOW TO AVOID PLAGIARISM

• Don't just duplicate what others have done.
• Increase the number of sources you use.
• Review your articles for plagiarism using plagiarism checkers.
• Create your own concepts.
• Make use of quotations.
