Poston re-established Wyndham Championship's 45-year achievement

James Poston became Wyndham Championship's most convincing champion since 1974 when he won the cup without a bogey.

Six birdies and an eagle at the last round help Poston became the champion at the PGA Tour. He set a four-round bogey-free record, something that had never happened at Wyndham Championship since Lee Trevino's championship in 1974.

Poston started on Sunday with three more sticks than the one who held the top of the table An Byeong Hun but quickly surpassed it due to his stable performance in all 18 holes. He created the most dramatic competition in the history of PGA Tour and finished with a score of -22, a stroke better than his compatriot Webb Simpson. "I have a lot of mistakes this season," Poston said after his first championship. "It is very special to spend four consecutive days without a bogey at Wyndham Championship. The 62-point finish is even more unbelievable. I'm happy to win the guaranteed playing at the PGA Tour for the next two years."

Thanks to the title in his home town of North Carolina, Poston climbed from position 83 to 27 on the FedEx Cup scoreboard. This helped him to be in the BMW Championship, despite the Northern Trust's results this week. This is two of three FedEx Cup Playoff events in 2019. If he can maintain in the top 30 FedEx Cup scorecards after the BMW Championship, Poston will be playing for the first time in the Tour Championship - the event that determines the FedEx Cup champion.

"That's the best thing this year," said the 26-year-old golfer. "I also received an invitation to attend The Masters next year and it was like the dream came true. Whatever the outcome, I will spend an unforgettable week there."
