Still - Final Part (Original Novel)
Still - Final Part (Original Novel)
My life abroad Father was not easy, until I worked as an entertainer in night clubs. I was able to send big amount of money to my family. They never knew my work there.
One day I received a letter from my neighbor who came from our country. My family now knew my dirty work as a prostitute. They denounced me.
After seven years father I went back here in our country with deadly sickness. I've got an AIDS. Nobody wanted to help me for I am dirty. The world shut down its door for me.
I have lost all my savings Father. Now I am one of the street people, I am alone, I am sick and I am a living dead.
I know that death is always at my side Father but I keep hiding it. I don't want to die without seeing Kent. I must say sorry to him before I vanish in this world. He is my reason of living still. Everyday is a dream for me to see him again.
"Father... I'm so sorry...Alea is not my name.. I am Laurice Marie Alvaro...'
Alea collapsed from her seat. She was shouting for the name of Kent repeatedly. The priest on the other side was alarmed. He took off his sotanna and rushed to the other room. There he saw Alea for the very first time. She was almost wrapped by clothes, grasping for breath. He took off the cover of her face. And what he saw was not the face that he expected. She had sunken cheecks and eyes. Her face was like a skull with thin skin cover. Tears ran down to his cheeks. What he saw was a living dead. Her eyes were closed but she was still breathing. She still called Kent's name.
"Laurice I am now here at your side," as he tightly held the bony hands of Laurice.
"Open your eyes, Laurice, I am now here, open your eyes please, please," as he embraced Laurice.
Eventually, Laurice was able to open her eyes again. What he saw was the man she was looking for how many years.
"Kent! Kent! Kent! I can't believe this. You are here! Kent, I am so sorry... for what I have done.. to you... now.. I am ready... to die...," she said with a broken voice. She was very near to death.
"Laurice, you have done nothing wrong to me and if there were, I had forgiven you since we were still together."
The chirping of the birds in the Cathedral's ceiling was audible again. The air was alive and the sun was cut half by the mountain view.
Laurice push her last breath with last words that she really wanted to say to Kent ever since.
"Kent...I...love...you..."
"I love you too Laurice... so much."
Laurice died. Her hold to the priest's hands was so firm. Her eyes were still fixed to the face of the priest, until he closed it by himself.
"You may now rest in peace Laurice."
The priest made a sign of a cross to Laurice.
"I've been searching you Laurice for how many years in cities and provinces and in far away lands. Now I finally found you," the priest said in silence with his tears continue to flow.
"Now you will have the everlasting peace, happiness and love in heaven.. with my twin brother, Kent."
Kent died from brain cancer, few months after their graduation.
The End.
