Today I would like to share a blockchain project, MediBloc which solves several problems faced by the current healthcare industry. It follows an open-source protocol and defines itself as a “decentralized healthcare information ecosystem built on blockchain technology for patients, healthcare providers, and researchers.”
Firstly, I would like to ask you guys a common question. Do you ever get tired of writing your medical history down over and over again, or taking the same medical exams every time you go to a new doctor?
And many of our parents have difficulties remembering the symptoms, treatment, and prescriptions. Experiences like these highlight some of the problems faced by the healthcare industry.
What is MediBloc ?
MediBloc is a medical data platform that is developing it's own blockchain. It puts the control of medical data back into the hands of patients. Currently, medical records are fragmented and scattered across medical institutions. MediBloc aims to integrate these records and create a patient-centric platform which will allow patients to utilize their healthcare data.
Patients can easily manage their own healthcare records by using Medibloc service. Incentives will be offered if an individual actively participate in the platform by using MediBloc services and managing their own healthcare data within the platform Collected personal health records can be provided to other participants through patients' consent only for free or for a fee within MediBloc platform.
MediBloc offers a healthcare data exchange platform/ecosystem, that will promote interoperability and allow all enti-ties- patients, practitioners, medical institutions- to freely take part in exchanging data. MediBloc will issue Medi token(MED), the cryptocurrency used on this platform, to build a competitive ecosystem. MediBloc users will be incentivized for their contribution on the MediBloc platform.
MediBloc Platform Features:
The main goal of MediBloc is to make healthcare data more accessible while stimulating the contents of medical information for the purpose of scientific advancement. Some key features include:
MediBloc will put health record data back into patients’ hands and allow owners of data to decide who is allowed to view the documents.
Worldwide data interoperability:
Global exchange of real-time information among the medical community will stimulate medical advancement and reduce unnecessary data repetition. Medical staff won’t have to wait for updated information, which will ultimately give you streamlined care with a greater chance of correct diagnosis.
Data loss/fraud prevention:
Data is backed up and only reliable healthcare affiliates will have access to edit data. Since modifications of data are transparent to all users on the blockchain, unethical adjustments are highly unlikely.
Security:
The blockchain protocol being utilized offers increased safety measures to ward off data hacks.
The ERC20 MED token reward system:
This encourages data owners to contribute to the data ecosystem through profit empowerment.
MediBloc Technical Details
The MediBloc platform is an EVM-based decentralization application (DApp). The MediBloc platform mainly holds three categories of information: MED balance, personal information, and health-care data.
The Medibloc Platform consists of three layers : Core, Service, and Application. In the three layers, the information that will be held pertains to personal information, medical data, and MED account (users, providers, researchers) balance.
The Core layer is a healthcare data network, a distributed database that uses the latest encryption technology to safe-guard data. Since the amount of data that can be stored in the blockchain is very limited, separate storage is required to efficiently store healthcare information and this separate storage is provided in the Core layer.
Third Layer - MediBloc Application:
Second Layer - MediBloc Service:
MediBlock's Service Layer provides fundamental services that connect the Application Layer and Core Layer. The Service Layer uses information based on blockchain, and allows for data input/output through connection with the Core Layer.
In the MediBloc Application layer, various applications, from web, mobile, etc., can manage and utilize the healthcare information. These applications are accessible through the Service Layer of the platform.
MediBloc has two tokens, MED and MEDX. MED Token is used to incentivize contributions to MediBloc ecosystem and will serve as the payment method within MediBloc. The platform will use the Medi Point system (MP), a points-based system that measures user participation. To gain higher MP, one can purchase it with MED or contribute to the data network. MediBloc’s mission statement says it will “improve healthcare access and experience by redistributing value of personal healthcare data, accelerating the world’s shift to private information decentralization.”
MediBloc is completely reshaping medical health data. If the project carries out what it intends to, it could be revolutionary in the healthcare realm. Not only could it save patients and medical professionals a great deal of time and hassle, it could potentially aid in the advancement of medicine through decentralizing access to critical data around the world.
