SEWERAGE SCHEME, R.Y.KHAN WITH TREATMENT PLANT.

Ground Storage Tanks at Dring Stadium:- 2 No. GSTs having 185000 gallons capacity are proposed to be constructed at Dring Stadium. The work of GSTs were started by the Contractor at the proposed location decided by Tehsil Nazim with the Consultation of District Support Officer. The District Support Officer has stopped the work of construction of GSTs at Dring Stadium. The TMO, TMA, Bahawalpur was requested to take up matter with the concerned authority and resolve the issue vide XEN, Bahawalpur letter No. 8554, dated 14.10.2008 and SE, PHE Circle, Bahawalpur No. 4070, dated 16.10.2008.

Ground Storage Tanks at Gulzar-a-Sadiq:- 2 No. GSTs having 135000 gallons capacity are proposed to be constructed at Gulzar-a-Sadiq. The work of GSTs were started by the Contractor at the proposed location decided by Tehsil Nazim in the meeting held under the Chairmanship of Station Commander, Bahawalpur. The Executive Officer, Cantonment has stopped the work of construction of GSTs at Gulzar-a-Sadiq. The TMO, TMA, Bahawalpur was requested to take up matter with the concerned authority and resolve the issue vide XEN, Bahawalpur letter No. 8941, dated 07.11.2008 and SE, PHE Circle, Bahawalpur No. 4438, dated 10.10.2008.

Acquisition of Land:- Construction of Sewerage Disposal Station and some sewer lines can not be taken in hand due to Land Acquisition cases pending with District Officer(Revenue) R.Y.Khan. A No. of reminder has been issued to accelerate the process of land acquisition after issuance of notifications under section 6 & 4 of Land Acquisition Act 1894.

COMMUNITY

1.WILLINGNESS FOR REHABILITATION.

Need based water supply scheme shall be rehabilitated with 2% community share from all the beneficiaries to ensure active participation with regard to planning, implementation and execution. To shoulder ownership, willingness and responsibility, community will from Water and Sanitation Community Organization (WASCO) which would be a truly representative and neutral in character shall be constituted with statutory backing through an enactment, before signing MOU with regard to sustainable O&M of the scheme.

2.COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

The community would be decision maker for running of rehabilitated water supply scheme. Keeping in view their paying capacity of electricity bills after completion of scheme, shall be shared by the Provincial Government and respective community 50:50 respectively. The community shall ensure regular recovery of monthly charges, water connections security fee, other outstanding dues and maintenance of record in this regard. The committee shall levy water charges to evolved in consultation with the Department. SDOs / CDOs / Sub Engineers / CBMs shall be permanent members of the committee for proper decision making; WASCOs shall be provided legal cover enabling them to carry-out O&M of the scheme successfully.
