Daily Dose of Sultnpapper 12/23/18> Checked the numbers… right on target for Christmas.

in #dailydose6 years ago (edited)

Thanks to the...

Thanks to the good folks over at Steem World I am able (you are too) to see the numbers that relate to my steemit account. As I have mentioned in prior Daily Doses, back around Thanksgiving I looked at the number of posts I had made and with some quick math in my head determined that I had a chance of delivering what would be my 500th post on here right about Christmas or Christmas Eve.

With this post the number will be 498 so come Christmas Day I will be able to deliver number 500 as I thought I might be able to do.

Of all the numbers...

Of all the numbers that are associated with an account that you find on Steem World the one I am most proud of is the one you can’t find there. That number for me would be 0.00343112, that is a very small number but it means a whole hell of a lot in my book.

That number represents...

That number represents the percentage of self votes I have made since I have been here on steemit. As of the moment I have cast 5,829 votes and of those only 2 have been self votes and those were by mistake.

Since I have an...

Since I have an account over at WeKu and I haven’t been able too much over there in the way of posting I have been considering doing an experiment just to see how much I could grow that account using self votes. At the risk of pissing some people off over there I just might go ahead and do it anyway.

My thought is...

My thought is to do a post a day over there and all the post would be is a number. I would start with 1 and each post the number would increase obviously by 1, so day 2,3,4, etc. Each day I would then turn around and just place a 100% upVote on the previous day post. Right now over there I have around $455 Weku and my upVote at 100% is worth $0.40 WeKu.

Why shouldn't I do it?

All this Steemit and WeKu is said to be decentralized social experiment type of stuff and so what would be wrong with me conducting my own social experiment? I could call it, "How to be non-social and grow your account experiment." I don’t believe there is any rule over there on self voting just like there isn’t one here on steemit so I am inclined to put on my new pair of Nike’s and Just Do It.

I have had...

I have had that pair of Nike’s for ten months and haven’t worn them once yet, my oldest boy got them for me for a birthday present last year and it was really nice of him to that. I just wish he had asked me if I had a color preference; most all the shoes and boots I wear are black so he decided to get me white Nike shoes. With me those white shoes would probably be ruined the first time I wear them so they just stay in the box. White shoes are just so hard to keep clean and I have been known to get into some messy situations. I do like them T-Bone, in case you read this, (not a chance on that) so that is the reason you never see me wear them. If you decide to buy me more tennis shoes I prefer black sonny boy.

So, if any of you...

So, if any of you have a problem with my WeKu non- social experiment I am planning on conducting speak now and speak loud. I still will not ever upVote one of my steemit posts intentionally but the devil in me needs do something every now and then too so WeKu could be a good outlet for him.

Do any of you...

Do any of you remember last year about this time (winter) when I took apart an old starter from a small block Chevy engine and made that “art” with it? I didn’t think so. That post wasn’t seen by many and it wasn’t a hit on the trending pages or with the art community. It was however my own original creation and I had fun making it so I am about to do another art project using some copper wire and electric motor parts.

Last year's project...

Last year’s project was a small multi trunk Crepe Myrtle tree in the dead of winter, no leaves on it just the hardwood. it makes a good paper weight. This year I am thinking about doing another plant and it will most likely be a pony tail palm plant since I have a lot of copper wire to work with. With what I have to work with, this will be an industrial size paper weight if it ends up like I think it will. I ended up stripping the wire out of an old 5 horse power electric motor and so I will be making that while I am on vacation.

I am not good...

I am not good when it comes to art projects, I just can’t visualize things in my head like real artist folks can do. I will say that both Shortie and Blondie have that ability and it amazes me what they can come up with. The Mrs. isn’t an artistic person either so I don’t know where the girls got their talent from, might be one of those recessive genes that skips a generation or some bullshit like that, or it may be….

Hey; Mrs. Papper we need to have a talk….

Until next time,
@sultnpapper

Now Mr Papper, that's quite cheeky!
I think we all have some form of creativity, takes a little encouragement to bring it out.
When I first joined Steemit, I was told that I should upvote my own posts in the beginning, so I started doing that but it really did not feel right patting myself on the back so I stopped, think it was actually after reading a post you did about that subject, got me thinking as usual!
Look forward to seeing your art project, don't forget to take photos of the steps and share it with us ;)

I bombed out of the poker game early on Sunday and I wish I had read this before I started on that art project. I am damn near finished and haven't taken one picture of the process. Talk about not thinking ahead, that is me when it came to that subject. I may be able to finish it up and share it in my Christmas post, my 500th blog post by the way.

Lesseee. Did you have the same UPS man when both girls were born? Just askin'

That is blatantly stolen from my brother. My now 30 year old nephew was just brand new when the UPS man came to the house on a cool February day. Randy was at home cause the weather was so foul and you had to be going to his house to get there. So the guy comes up the drive and Gail goes to the door. In those days, in that place, it was considered good form to invite him in for the little business you had to transact. When the UPS man got inside and the door shut Randy went over and held Cavan up beside him to check the resemblance.

Gail was mortified, the UPS man was scared and Randy was tickled. By the time Gail told me the story later in the day she was LMAO tickled too.

I'm no artist. Having been married to one (the first Mrs BT) I do have some inkling into that process and I don't have it. It's why I first took up photography, it was strictly self defense. Karen would explain what she was going to do, or wanted to do patiently and in great detail. I couldn't see anything and was always amazed at what came from them.

Anyway, I am looking forward to your art project. There is a serious pile of copper wire in a 5hp motor. Sometimes you can find enough 'beads' in them to make a necklace too, I think. That electrically melted copper is HARD, I just happen to know.

I think the Weku experiment is way worth the time. I do some self voting through a voting trail, and I'm just OK with that. If I don't think my post is good enough how can you think that? I support myself.

I'm even doing a little of that very thing on Whaleshares. I don't have a report yet, but I haven't heard any bellyachin' about my voting actions.

I have a pair of formerly white kicks right by the door. It was the only color available on the shoes I wanted in the size I needed. They are battered into submission and I wear them now when I expect to foul them further. I agree with your assessment of white-you ought to see my collection of formerly white T shirts.

So. Today is church in the jammies day. Or do you have to dress to transport Blondie? Casual church at the least.

No transport needed today for Blondie as bible school is canceled for the Christmas holiday, I guess to many people are out of town. So it will be jammies and coffee for me and Blondie will probably be painting her nails like she normally does. She is a really good finger nail artist, a friend of ours that runs an upscale hair and nail place wants her to get her license to do that when she turns sixteen so she can hire her to work there.

I highly doubt it would be artistic talent from the UPS man. Not saying he doesn't have artistic talent because I don't know that; they haven't actually knocked or rang the door bell in the last 15 years or more, they just throw the package on the porch and hightail it back to the truck. They used to honk the horn on the truck as they drove away to let you know you got a delivery but they haven't done that in several years either.

But that was a good one with your brother, great sense of humor. Would have been even funnier if little baby did look like the UPS guy. I had a friend growing up that looked nothing like his Dad but back then the little dairy in town delivered the milk to the houses in glass quart bottles, his looks favored that milk man in a big way.
I find it hard to pitch out the old tennis shoes, I keep them where I have three pairs at all times and sometimes a fourth. The degree of mess I plan on getting into determines which pair gets selected, the pair for the messy stuff I would do has the bottoms flat smooth as I have worn all the tread off them. and got holes at the big toes. Those happen to be the shoes for painting and shop work. Then I have a pair that is for yard work and general purpose like a trip to the store for groceries. The last pair is a good pair and that is for going to eat out or visit folks when the weather is good. My main footwear though is my black Justin ropers, just has been for most of my life. I will wear my smooth Ostrich boots on special occasions, those are really comfortable BTW.
I gave up on white T shirts years ago, grey is the choice for me. They don't stay any cleaner than the white ones, they just mask the filth better.

How fun @sultnpapper, I love creating new things. Repurposing old objects is a wonderful opportuniity! I liked what you made last year, look forward to seeing what this vacation brings. Great idea to experiment with the self voting concept. Is Weku growing? You haven't mentioned too much lately about that platform. I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and you get an opportunity to enjoy your vacation before your new job begins!

I haven't mentioned WeKu lately because I haven't been over there, I went and upVoted some stuff of some folks I know and it had been three weeks since I had been over there.
I hate to just scrap stuff if something can be done with it. At least by salvaging out the copper and using it I will have a "stock pile" of it when copper becomes the new "gold".
Merry Christmas to you and your family as well.

Haha! I used to think I was adopted because I have so many traits that my parents and sister don't share. Now I think it's just the way genes behave.
When I started posting on Steemit I used to tick the automatic self-voting box. I thought you were meant to. Then I realised it was sometimes frowned on, and my vote wasn't worth much anyway.
Now I unintentionally self-vote because I'm part of a curation trail that I auto-vote. As @bigtom13 says, I probably deserve the upvote as much as the others on the trail do, so why not?
At least I don't post a comment and then give it an upvote. I've seen some very successful and well-known Steemians do that regularly!

You were adopted, your family just never told you, I checked.
Give a couple votes to some groups to upVote with like the Steemengine to upVote the Daily Whistle Stop and School of Minnows but other than that I cast all my own votes as I see fit.
I do get the regular upVote on my post from SBI and I guess I bought and paid for those so that could be considered "self voting" or bot voting too. I just don't go clicking the vote button though on my own posts and I would never even consider upVoting one of my own comments.
Maybe over on WeKu though, I could make the post, upVote the post then comment on the post and upVote the comment. You just doubled up my non-social growth experiment results, Thanks.
Oh, just fooling on the adoption, they said they found you in basket down by the river and decided to keep you, no adoption necessary. Finders Keepers rules applied.

Haha! I used to ask my parents so often whether I was adopted that they would be incredibly bare-faced liars if I wasn't! Basket in the river though... hmm...
Glad to have given you another angle for your self-voting experiment on WeKu. Looking forward to reading the results.

I am looking forward to the experiment results also. Something has happened with the numbers 1 and 2 that I didn't expect to happen, people have actually upVoted those posts.
Number one got two upVotes that show a value of $0.94 right now and the number two has exceeded that with 3 upVotes and $2.13 in earnings thus far. I haven't even add my upVotes to either post yet. I am going to hold off doing that until around day 5 of each post as to try not to draw attention to what I am doing.

My mother had a friend who, as a child, used to pack her suitcase regularly and sit out on the curb waiting for her "real parents" to come back and get her. She wasn't adopted and that used to irritate her mother no end. I don't know if it was just that she felt so alienated in the family or if it was some past-life memory. In any case, the family talked about it for years ... how Flo used to sit on the curb and wait to be claimed.

Aw, her poor parents! I can't imagine better parents than my own, but I've always been very individual and independent-minded. I think I just wanted an explanation as to why I was so "different". And also I had a wild imagination 😂

Congratulations! This post has been chosen as one of the daily Whistle Stops for The STEEM Engine!

You can see your post's place along the track here: The Daily Whistle Stops, Issue 349 (12/23/18)

Give yourself some more credit, there is an artist in you. It is in everyone. Thank you for that lovely promotion of my post, such a kind thing to see in the morning, much love! 💚

You are most welocme on the post promotion. @bigtom13 started doing that and I stole it from him. So I am trying to that now with each Daily Dose, include a post that I enjoyed from someone else. Like he said, we all need to help each other and that is one way we can do it.

Resteemed and weku what

Go easy on mrs papper please its Almost christmas 😉 well I am not an arty person but by own means go for it. Its good content for steemit. And I am in for the wekuprojectx, it Will be fun.
Have a great Sunday and an even better christmas !

Thanks Britt. You have a great day and wonderful Christmas as well. I think I am going to do that WeKu experiment of being non-social.

I look forward to the outcome

So I started the experiment. Believe it or not the damn post with only the number " 1" in both the title and the post body has gotten two upVotes worth $0.93 Weku. I think I am going to wait until day 5 to upVote it myself. But I will do "2" tomorrow.

Making money sleeping hahah

That idea you have for WeKu is awesome! I reckon go for it. What's the worse that could happen? You get rich!? Merry Christmas - looking forward to your 500th post on Christmas Day.

I just might do that with WeKu, I didn't sign up over there to do that but I just don't have the time to devote to that one right now and most everyone over there that I know is just posting their steemit posts there so it isn't like there is any extra effort on their part to create anything new over there. I get it that there might be some people over there that aren't on steemit and might read it but the reality is, (at least the way I see it) it is just the same folks getting paid in another form of crypto for the same posts by the same people as over here.
I won't be looking for other people to upVote my experiment, it would be my own personal vote and one a day.
Merry Christmas to you as well, I don't have any special plan for 500 so it might be a let down from a content standpoint. Like most of my Daily Doses, I don't know where I am headed with them until I sit down and start typing.

Yeah, I headed to WeKu during the hard fork issues, but haven't really committed to it. I might head back there now that you've reminded me of it and see if I can bolster my profile. Might even give you self-voting idea a crack too!!

I have started making my experiment over there and I am up to day 4 right now. I have had held off upVoting any of those yet, on day 6 I will upVote day one and then keep going from there.
The funny part is that someone told me I needed to "make a post with suitable words or else someone would flag me". I guess WeKu isn't a free speech zone or they just don't like numbers. Just to pacify them I went and placed the simple Chinese equivalent for the English number, so if anyone wants to bitch now, I trying to help people learn to count in Chinese or teaching the Chinese to count in English.
The even funny part is that I have had people upVote each post, even before I put the Chinese numbers on there. The number "two" has gotten 3 votes and is at $2.08 Weku. So this may end up being better than I anticipated.

Very shrewd!! You're in luck - I want to learn Chinese, so I'll head on over and give them an upvote too.

Well good, leave a comment so I can upVote you on that too.

Howdy sir sultnpapper! I think doing the weku experiment is a great idea, I say go for it!

The WeKu experiment is underway already.

oh very cool sir sultnpapper, it will be interesting to hear how it goes!
