Help YOUR Neighbor!

in #homestead8 years ago (edited)

Just down the road from where I live these folks set out a table by the road. They have a lean to shelter off their storage barn that covers it. They put their extra produce on that table to sell. Every time I pass I stop and buy something.
Every year their garden gets bigger. It's fun to watch.

Now in the opposite direction this little table appeared.
I have cherry tomatoes coming out my ears but I bought a few.

Y'all I am cheap. Lol
I have to be thrifty to keep my homestead afloat. But these are my neighbors and this is how you build community!

People helping people is the world I want to live in!

I really like the whole message of trust here, and the way this is about a community sharing with other members of the community. We really need to get back to more of those values... I remember stands like this from when I was a kid (1960s).

=^..^=

I am very blessed to live in an area where this is normal everyday life. Nobody asks for help because everyone helps!
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog!

A great message in deed (y) Good work

Thank you. I believe it is!

You're welcome, it surely is 💯

You are welcome ,
Keep posting :)

Pick me up some cucumbers, mine aren't ready yet, LOL! Good neighbors are Made, looks like you are taking the right steps! :)

Mine have come and gone! I might plant more tomorrow.

Been focusing on the move, and every schedule (including planting) is messed up. But what is a little Chaos in the greater scheme of things?

I couldn't help but comment on this one old or not. Love the honor system payments. I ran across a little vegetable stand last year that had a place to leave payments. I was so delighted by that. So nice to know that kind of thing is still possible in todays crazy world.

I know! I grew up in that kind of environment. Everyone knew everyone and things like that were common. I moved to a large city and lived there many years, even in the suburbs you had to lock everything up.
When I moved back to the country was such a big relief!
So much more peaceful.

I can totally relate. I remember spending a few years in the Tampa area. I came back to Tn and the difference was striking. I remember being so surprised the first time a random stranger smiled and greeted me out in public. I think I had been in Fl. so long that I had forgotten many things. It is just a completely different feel. even the air feels different here.

Totally agree!
I arrived before my husband. I grew up in the mountains but he was a Florida native (rare breed, lol) right after he got here we went into town and people wave, smile or give a how ya doin and he was like "do you know all these people " so funny.
Where bouts in TN are y'all?

In the Tri Cities right on the state line with Va. I always find it interesting how people are different in differing regions.
I know a few small towns that almost function like one big family.

The little town where we bought our land had Alot of friendly people. I look forward to putting down roots and developing relationships.
The people where we live are wonderful but the locals have been tough to get to know here.

The locals probably been there generations. Your grandkids may be considered newcomers. I know places where that would be the case.

Yes generations of families for sure. We will be the new comers rest of our lives. Lol

Is that zone 6 for growing?

yes 6 but I swear the weather is changing over the years.

When I researched the area where we bought land I researched weather pattern change predictions that was 15 plus years ago and it has been accurate. Changing to more moisture which is good... Except this year. Lol
