For love or money..

No, I'm not talking about that Michael J. Fox movie, or even the remake they made this year with.. who?

No, I want to know more of life question.. what should motivate us more.. Love or Money?

Many of us are motivated by different things. A lucky few of us have found a true passion, something that invigorates their soul and electrifies them to through their fingers and toes.. Others have a drive.. they are driven by towards output.. making moves fast and seeing clearly how those moves will stack up and pay off down the line.

Most of us are kind of stuck in limbo.. living mostly reactionary lives.. taking what life throws at us and trying to roll with the punches..

We are given tons of advice when it comes to career and work.. how we should design our lives..

I have always had trouble envisioning things clearly.. I lack drive, I can't find things to stay passionate about long enough, and anytime I try to think about what I want to do with my life, my thoughts swirl into such a cloud of brain fog that I give up and put it on the shelf for some other time..

and life goes by..

Relationships, kids, families, cars, things.. mortgage.. they all pile up as you go through your day to day routine.. but given the choice.. (and we DO have a choice).. How SHOULD we live our lives? How should we orientate our energy and time.. two of the most precious finite resources that we have..?

Is it wise to work relentlessly towards financial freedoms.. crunch numbers, head down, nose to the grindstone. and put away that 401k, cause once you look up from that grindstone.. that time and energy you have left ain't going to be much..

OR..

should you feed your soul? Work towards making the world a better place, even at the expense of a possible nest egg.. if you are helping others, whether through charity or service.. isn't that a more fulfilling life? We should use our time and energy while we have it to touch as many lives as possible, and in turn go to bed satisfied every night.. anyway, why should we be well off when so many are suffering? It's all impermanent, materialistic needs anyway.. if we follow our hearts to a line of vocation, we are doing something that have a much greater and long lasting impact than chasing dollar signs..

right?

There doesn't seem to be a right or wrong, because there is NO precedence for YOUR life..

So, it begs the question.. what do YOU think? should plunder as much as possible, possibly giving back more when we are financially secure, or should we trust that love conquers all, and follow our heart rather than money?

Selfishness. Survival. Does are the primary instincts I respond to.

Love? Money?

I chose freedom. Love, money... are just means to an end--freedom. People want to be free to live, explore and express themselves. Love and money are a means to that goal.

Free will is the basis of humanity. Good choice! With the goal in mind, the means become a lot more bearable! Keep your eye on the prize! Thanks for your support..
