Since the Steem blockchain became a centralized, top-down dominated place, where control and censorship thrive, I have decided to move my content. Don't worry, though, all my posts and up and doing well on the decentralized Hive blockchain. Come and check it out!

I think it is so funny that when we do things because we care about the person, we give 110%, but when we feel invisible in a big company or when we feel like our time is being wasted, we won't give it our all no matter how much money we make. It's kind of nice though. If people are like this, then that means less and less of us can be bought.

Exactly! Money can only buy you so much. If you do things for someone you know (= you care about) it's not even "more than just about the money". You would probably do it even "for free". Whereas doing things for unknown (= not cared about) entities, such as "the customers", let alone "the shareholders", it all just comes down to what I'd describe as prostitution, sell-out, casting pearls before swine, that is wasting a good thing.

And yes, normally, if we're well taken care of, it's only natural that we can't be bought. The problem starts when we're suffering from our basic needs not being met. That's when we start exploiting ourselves and each other, for only one more morsel from some fat cat's table.

what you get in exchange for your time and effort is not measured in money. It's the time you spend with someone, the appreciation of your skills, and you as a person. It's the feeling of helping out, where your effort seem small in comparison to the difference it makes for the other person

YES!! Some of my most rewarding experiences have been working to help others. WE've been trying to have family working bees where we ALL go and do one garden, and it's heaps of fun and feels like real joy. I'd love to get a network happening in my neighbourhood like that - many hands make light and REWARDING work!!

As for work work, I'm NOT enjoying marking a heap of essays this afternoon and am about to quit and go play.

Oh, don't remind me! I've got essays waiting for me to mark too... :-p
