Let’s Talk About Slabs...
AKA: The pesky things that keep me from touching my silver!
Here are the only two graded coins I own. I'm not a fan. Got them for great deals though so whatever.
Neither have any significant numismatic value, but the hunks of plastic they're in make them worth a little more than their free counterparts.
Perhaps the worst thing is they prevent good pictures! At least in my experience that is. All that extra plastic makes the glare something fierce to contend with.
I know numismatics are cool/good investment pieces and I've even gotten pretty well into semi-numismatic type stuff, but I just can't get into the graded stuff. Just doesn't do it for me like raw stuff I can touch and feel and take risque pictures of!
Nice coins, I collect them all. Slab coins are fine if you are buying the "coin'' not the slab. My advice is to stay away from slabbed bullion.
As you can see from the photos me and slabbed bullion don't get along at all 🤣
I like that Morgan Dollar. I wouldn't mind the plastic slab.
Yea, it's cool. But for me not nearly as cool as one a little more worn that I can hold and stack and listen to clink with other silver stuff.

Totally agree. The only slabbed coins I own are the copper Conders I posted about the other night, and as you said, it was just because I got a good deal. It feels a lot less personal somehow having them slabbed. Like it's more of a business transaction than for enjoyment.
Yea, some stuff it's better to buy slabbed for authenticity sake, but most stuff it just turns it into a chunk of plastic without any soul!
