Just taking a look at the World Cup 2018 outright winner odds at William Hill and I must say there are some surprises!

1Brazil3.75
2England4.5
3France4.5
4Croatia6.5
5Belgium7.0
6Uruguay15.0
7Russia19.0
8Sweden23.0

I suspect these odds are representative of other bookmakers, what stands out for me is that England are joint second favourites with France, above both Croatia and Belgium and that Brazil are still favourites.

I guess Belgium's odds have been affected by going 2-0 down to Japan. Though they have won every game they have played and have class players all over the pitch.

England as second favourites is amazing to me and totally unwarranted from what I have seen.

Brazil remain favourites but I can't see why, they are always a very dangerous side though.

Uruguay have won their last seven matches and knocked out Portugal in the last match, so it is somewhat surprising to see them with odds of 15.00

For comparison these are the odds on the Betfair Exchange

Whats your thoughts on these odds?

Sort:

I do think that the odds aren’t as much affected by the previous game but by the road to the final!
England is tha favorite are the right bracket and France on the left bracket! The odds for Brazil are too low because the have to eliminate probably and Belgium and France!
The odds for England are too high in my opinion but they didn’t impress me against Colombia!

I agree with Uruguay, but on the table it says the odds are 8.00 and not 15.00.

Not sure why there is a difference between England being stronger favourites than Belgium, especially with Belgium beating England in the group stages.

Come on England regardless!

That was a mistake on the Betfair odds they were 18.5 but now actually 18, corrected now. The odds I was referring to at 15 were the odds at WH.

Looks like the odds represents the teams path to the finals. I think England should be able to make it there at least.

Uruguay are a nice price!

I fancy France still, too much pace and power in the midfield.

Brazil have to face Belgium then possible France can't see them beating them both for me Belgium is the best bet ignoring the 2 goals conceded against Japan they have one lose under Martinez against Spain one of the first games undefeated since. Winning is a good habit and they have it

I think the odds are so low for England because out of the favourites, England have the easiest progression to the semi-final, they are almost expected to win, no disrespect to sweden they have done brilliant and in football who knows, were as all the other semi's are more closely matched and anyone of the favourites could be put out. If they beat sweden, they will be playing against teams who should have had hard fought games and could be very tired.

That's a good point, never factored that in, but even considering that still find it strange.

@stimp1024 they must be very careful with the local team, as Russia has been overcoming the games that have come their way. and Apart pay an appetizing 22.00.
