As a Community we have to change our mindset and stop the "circle-jerking" behaviour if we want to achieve the +$500 billion Market Valuation predicted last year. Introducing the #circle-jerking tag..!!

The "circle-jerking" behaviour is killing #STEEM

We have to change out Mindset.jpg

Alienated and ostracised? A gamble worth taking..!!

Over the next few days I will be celebrating my second anniversary on #Steemit and what a hell of two years it has been.

In these two years I have met some unbelievably talented people on #Steemit and consider the #Steemit Community more as a family now than a community of friends.

However, as a Community I strongly believe that we have to change our mindset and stop the "circle-jerking" behaviour if we want to achieve the +$500 billion Market Valuation.

I am sure that this Blog will rattle a few cages and I once again run the risk of being alienated and ostracised in the Community, but for me it is a gamble simply worth taking.

Series of #circle-jerking Blogs

As I feel so passionate about this, I have decided to create a tag and I have aptly chosen #circle-jerking.

Make absolute no mistake, these #circle-jerking Blogs are not meant to interfere in the behavioural pattern of the Community in a disruptive manner, but in an attempt to re-align the mindset should the Community wish to collectively reach the +$500 billion Market Valuation target I predicted last year.

How far down the rabbit hole I take it is up to you

Over the coming few weeks / months I will be blogging my worries and concerns to the #circle-jerking tag and will decide just how far down the rabbit hole I take it depending on the response.

The more positive the response, the further down the rabbit hole I will take it.

Rip my head off and jump down my throat

I am in no doubt at all that there will be some in the Community that would like rip my head off and jump down my throat if they feel I am talking total garbage, but sadly at the age of 52 as I have seen and heard it all before..!!

There is no substitute for experience

It should come as no great surprise to regular readers of my Blog that I am a huge supporter of the Technical Developers that are in the #Steemit Community and believe that we have some of the smartest developers working on developing the #STEEM Ecosystem.

Sadly however, I strongly believe that these highly skilled technical developers have been deployed at the expense of the commercial realisation of the Ecosystem and this view comes with +30 years experience.

Thanks for reading and once again thank you to everyone around the World that has supported my work these last two years.

Stephen

Good and truthful post.
I started out on steemit with hopeful eyes and a dreamy heart. Was excited about free speech , decentralized power, and all the other bullshit they claim this platform is.
I was quickly put in my place.
I then tried to find a community to be a part of, But I am not into just one thing or one Idea. So that left me lacking.

Then I got a spammer on my page and remembered someone tagging @steemflagrewards.
I looked for it and joined.

Now I am an admin for steemflagrewards and spend most of my time fighting abuse. We have bigger problems than circle jerking. Most of the problems stem from a few issues.

Plagiarism, comment farms with 100s of steemit faucet delegations, Flaggers with 100s of steemit faucet delegation accounts. Large stake holders that have a few alt accounts and only vote and comment to themselves. Accounts buying delegations and voting themselves and alt accounts.

It sad to say but it is impossible with the human condition to have a decentralized power on an open platform. There is greed and more greed and even the witnesses mostly only care about ROI.
There are a few that have a long term perspective and they don't run bid bots. But they will quickly be run over if the current way things are done here stay in place.

The trending page is not trending at all. It should be called the promoted by bid bot page. I think maybe most of the people don't understand the definition of trending? But the trending on steemit is not trending any where but on that page.

If you care you should join us at @steemflagrewards and start fighting the abuse. The only way we will win is if more of us are flagging the abusers and reform them or make them leave.

Thanks for this post, use and look at the #abuse tag for posts like this it will be an eye opener.

Thanks for the contribution to the blog.

There are a few that have a long term perspective and they don't run bid bots.

I am proud to say that I have not used ONE bid bot or ONE promotion Bot, simply because in my eyes the Community is no where near big enough let alone mature enough for these kind of shenanigans just yet. For the two years I have been on #Steemit I have done everything MANUALLY and will continue doing so for at least another 3 years..!! Sometimes the old school approach is the better way. Stephen

It surely is a good and positive thing for anyone to express concerns about this platform. Sure there are negatives here but it's only just over two years old and growing with teething problems. Rome wasn't built in a day. It sure is gonna be interesting how this platform pans out. Appreciate your posts

Thanks for the comment. Stephen

I don't like the circle jerking either it's made me lose interest in steemit :(

Keep up the great work @stephenkendal Congrats on making it 2 years as I did on July 13 ! The circle jerking needs to stop, it is ruining steemit! My recent post on reaching 5500 followers I answered the Question : Where Have All The Dolphins Gone!? and in the comments the circle jerking is definitly a big part. As well of Many Dolphins Powering down and leaving Steemit heres the link if you feel like , or get a chance to check it out. upped and resteemed your post.✌💕😀👍

There is no doubt at all that circle jerking is killing the passion and worth f the platform #steemit as it promotes nepotism. There are several members of the platform who are selflessly contributing to the platform but still this is much needed point to be addressed.
Since I joined the platform am following you and with every passing day your thoughts convinced me that you are wonderful human being with a clear vision to promote the platform in a very positive way.

Thank you so much for giving us so much Stephen :)

This place is absolutely filled with people who are self-interested and unapologetic about their behaviors. I constantly give out my vote without self-voting (for the most part) and receive very little response if any at all.

There needs to be way more social interaction and giving from the whales since they are hoarding all of the reward pool for themselves and their select friends.

You are a great contributor to Steemit.com Community and we will continue to support you. Happy second anniversary.

Your circle- jerking tag is a very creative one. Steemit has a lot of growth potential but some practices allowed on the platform are hampering that growth. Though it's a free community and everyone is free to do whatever they please with their influence, but let's all put the sustenance of the platform into consideration.

Please define circle-jerking.

It's a word frequently used but rarely explained, I'm quite sure many people are operating with different definitions in their head.

No problem. Circle-jerking in this instance refers to a group or group activity indulging in mutual gratification. Stephen

technical developers have been deployed at the expense of the commercial realisation of the Ecosystem

Can you please expand on this ?

Yes. The technicals are holding more steem power than the commercials. Stephen
