The Celtics and 76ers will open up the NBA season

Oh boy, the NBA Regular Season is BACK! Opening night is Tuesday and we are blessed with a fantastic double header! The Boston Celtics will host the Philadelphia 76ers in the first official game of the year. Tipoff is set for 7pm Central Standard Time and the game can be seen on National Television on TNT. It will take place at the TD Garden in Boston. The Celtics are favored at -4.5 and the over/under is 208 points. Both teams have NBA Finals goals for this year, but only one of them can come out of the Eastern Conference.

The Boston Celtics were having the same thoughts last year on opening night like they do this year. They had added Kyrie Irving to a good team and landed Gordon Hayward to be the biggest challenger to Lebron James and the Cavs in the East. But Hayward broke his leg in the first quarter of the first game of the season and he was done for the year. The Celtics still put together a fantastic season but would also lose Kyrie Irving before the playoffs.

The Celtics would be led by one of the youngest rosters in the NBA and even without Irving and Hayward, they would take the Lebron James led Cavs to the brink in the playoffs. They were within a shot or two of making the NBA Finals even without their two best players.

The Philadelphia 76ers were the hottest team in the NBA at the end of the regular season last year. They won 15 games before the playoffs started and looked unstoppable. But their luck ran out too early in the playoffs and it all came crashing down.

Ben Simmons had a breakout year though for the 76ers after missing most of his rookie year. He ran a Magic Johnson like point guard spot and was fantastic in the transition game. Big man Joel Embid also showed his potential was a reality. But there was one big issue with the team. #1 draft pick, Markele Fultz, was horrible. He barely even played. But will his hard work this offseason pay off?

There are lost of questions entering this game but most of them are on the 76ers side. Boston is going to be one of the best teams in the NBA, but the 76ers are still young buds. Tonight’s game should be the first peak into what will be an incredible season.
