Donovan Mitchell won the 2018 NBA Slam Dunk Contest in style on Saturday night. He was undoubtedly the best dunker in the field and is a worthy champion. He did his best Vince Carter impersonation and mimicked his dunks in dynamite fashion.

Mitchell would go up against Larry Nance Jr. in the finals. Nance Jr. was recently traded from the Los Angeles Laker to the Cleveland Cavs. But it wasn’t just his new teammates cheering him on. Nance Jr.’s dad, Larry Nance Sr. was in attendance. The elder was actually the first ever winner of the NBA Slam Dunk Contest back in 1984. Here is a picture of his legendary dunk.

Victor Oladipo failed to land any of his dunks. It was an embarrassing night for the Indiana Pacers guard. And Dallas Mavericks rookie Dennis Smith Jr. also did not have his best night. He did land a couple cool dunks but they were not enough to get into the finals.

But the night belonged to Donovan Mitchell. He won easily over Larry Nance Jr. and holds the title. Congrats on winning the 2018 NBA Slam Dunk Contest! I sure hope he will be back in 2019 to defend his title!

Thank you

Congrats to Donovan Mitchell.. for winning the Slam Dunk contest..

The dribble off the backboard was the most interesting dunk of the night. But Mitchell got hops. Smaller guys just look more explosive when they dunk. Using Kevin Hart helped alittle for the crowd reaction. Btw. That may have been the quietest crowd I’ve ever seen for all star Saturday. : )
