The 2018 NFL Draft is almost here and we want to take a look at some of the best players that will be hearing their names called in the first round. Today we want to focus on some wide receivers. First let’s take a look at Calvin Ridley out of the University of Alabama. The 23 year old junior is leaving school 1 year early and will be the first WR chosen in the draft.
Calvin Ridley grew up in Coconut Creek Florida. He is 6’1 and 190 pounds of solid muscle. He had an amazing college football career which started back in 2015 when he was a freshman. Ridley would make an immediate impact at Alabama and would have over 1,000 yards receiving in his first year. He would make the USA Today All-American Freshman Team.
His sophomore and junior years were not as good statistically, but that was based on the Alabama offensive scheme. They were so run heavy with their incredible running backs and Jalen Hurts being a running QB, that Ridley did not get as many chances. That was by no means Ridley’s fault, it was simply Nick Saban’s game plan. And as far as winning goes, Nick Saban was right. Ridley would help the Crimson Tide win 2 national championships.
Calvin Ridley is absolutely ready to jump right into a NFL starting line up and produce as a rookie. He is in phenomenal physical condition and will be a nice addition to a team that is in need of an upgrade at the wide receiver position. I expect to hear his name early in the first round after all of the top 4 quarterbacks are off of the board.
