The 2018 NFL Draft is almost here and we want to take a look at some of the best players that will be hearing their names called in the first rounds. Today we want to focus on the Tight End position. Next, let’s take a look at Dallas Goedert from the University of South Dakota State. The senior flew under the radar but is now considered to be one of the Top 5 NFL Tight End Prospects.
Dallas Goedert was born in raised in South Dakota. He was a football and basketball star and when it came to his college choices, he decided to stay local and attend South Dakota State. He was not given a scholarship initially and had to walk on to the football team. The 6’5 and 255 pound Goedert did not show up on campus at that size. He was an inch shorter and 30 pounds lighter. He would redshirt his freshman year and focus on working out and packing on the muscle, which he sure did.
He would work hard throughout his college football career and not only earn a scholarship, but also become one of the most productive tight ends in the country. Goedert would end up with some fantastic stats:
198 Receptions
2,988 Yards Receiving
21 Touchdowns
Those numbers were so impressive that he grabbed the attention of NFL scouts everywhere. He had a great combine last month and looked like a physical specimen that would be a great fit to play on Sundays.
