The 2018 NFL Draft is almost here and we want to take a look at some of the best players that will be hearing their names called in the first round. Today we want to focus on some running backs. Next let’s take a look at Kerryon Johnson out of Auburn. The 6’0 running back is entering the NFL Draft a year early after leaving school after his junior year. He is one of the tallest running backs in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Kerryon Johnson played in every game of his freshman year at Auburn. In fact, he never missed a game in his entire career. But it was a slow start back in 2015 for Johnson as he had to wait his turn to be the featured back. He would carry the ball 52 times his freshman year for 208 yards and 3 touchdowns. He did catch 14 balls but did not get into the end zone.
His sophomore year would be much better and he was able to up his production significantly. Johnson would get the rock handed to him 182 times and would rush for 895 yards. He scored 11 rushing touchdowns and was the featured back in the red zone.

Johnson entered his junior year as a pre-season All SEC Team member and had very high expectations. He would smash his expectations and would put up his best numbers yet. He would rush 285 times for 1,391 yards. But even more impressively, he would get into the end zone 18 times on the ground and 2 more times in the air for a total of 20 touchdowns. He would also catch 24 passes out of the back field.
I have Johnson going off the draft board as the 5th running back. I think his greatest potential is in the screen game and he has fantastic hands. If he is put in the right offensive scheme, he could have a big impact right out of the gate this fall.
