Once all of your presents are open and dinner is finished, we invite you to digest your desert on the couch as the NBA continues to provide entertainment for the rest of the evening. The later games are scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM and 9:30 PM CST.
Houston Rockets (25-6) @ Oklahoma City Thunder (18-15) – The Rockets look to regain the top spot in the NBA, depending on the Golden State Warriors result, as they visit the Thunder. The Rockets are led by the dynamic James Harden (32.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 9 assists per game), Eric Gordon (19.5 PPG), and big man, Clint Capella (14 PPG, 11.3 RPG, 1.8 BPG). The Rockets will be without their starting point guard, Chris Paul, as he is nursing an apparent knee injury.
The Thunder counter with their own dynamic play maker and 2017 MVP, Russell Westbrook who is almost on pace to once again average a triple-double per game (23.6 PPG, 9.5 RPG, 9.9 APG). Looking to aid Westbrook and the Thunder attack is the back court duo of Paul George (19.9 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 2.6 steals per game) as well as long-time sharpshooter Carmelo Anthony (17.5 PPG, 6.2 RPG).
Minnesota Timberwolves (20-13) @ Los Angeles Lakers (11-20) – In the day’s final matchup, the Timberwolves look to take a break from enjoying the sunshine on their Christmas break to defend their 2 game lead in the Northwest division against the Lakers. The ‘Wolves bring their 1-2 punch of double-double machine, Karl Anthony-Towns (20.5 PPG, 11.7 RPG) and, one of the NBA’s best 2-way players, Jimmy Butler (20.6 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 4.6 APG, 1.8 SPG) to town against the Lakers, one of the league’s best transition offenses.
Los Angeles is led by one of the biggest steals in the 2017 NBA draft, rookie Kyle Kuzma (17.7 PPG, 6.9 RPG) along side Brandon Ingram (16 PPG, 5.5 RPG) and Lonzo Ball (10 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 7.1 APG), who were both drafted number 2 overall in the 2016 and 2017 NBA drafts, respectively.
