Portland Trailblazers guard CJ McCollum had a career night last night when the Blazers hosted the Bulls. Portland won the game easily 124-108 as McCollum exploded for 50 points.
McCollum scored in a variety of ways on Wednesday night. He made 18-25 from the field including 6-9 from the 3 point line and a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line. McCollum scored early and often as he slashed to the rim then launched deep jump shots will plenty of confidence. His 50 point total is his career high.
This is the 5th year in the NBA for McCollum. He was born in Canton, Ohio and was not heavily recruited in college. He ended up at Lehigh and became one of the nation’s best scorers. The Blazers drafted him in 2013 with the 10th overall pick in the first round.
On the season, McCollum is averaging 22 points per game. He is shooting 45% from the field, a career high 43% from downtown, and 88% from the free throw line.
CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard make for one of the best back courts in the NBA. The one/two offensive punch has led the Blazers to a 29-22 record. They fly under the radar in the loaded Western Conference but with their great arena and home crowd, the Warriors, Rockets, and Spurs will not want to face this team in the playoffs. Portland will be back in action tomorrow night when they play at the Toronto Raptors.
