Can Conor McGregor Ever Recover?

It seems that in the wake of UFC 229, more talk of the post fight antics between Conor and Khabib's crew has gone down than talk of the fight itself. We see that Conor may have somewhat drawn too little straws in his pickings for a return fight since just as much money could have been made demolishing a lesser fighter.
Nurmagomedov can surely be considered the greatest lightweight in the world right now, but will the repercussions of his actions and threats against the UFC go unnoticed? I'd imagine Dana cares more for Khabib to simply finish out his contract before talks of anything else in his career...

...but to be frank, even contracts aren't set in stone when enough buy money is involved. The ridiculous antics of Mayweather have even aligned themselves with the mma world moreso in the past two years than ever before. Khabib vs. Mayweather being an actual thing makes me laugh and sick all in one.
Even Daniel Cormier whom coaches Khabib on a daily basis said that Mayweather would demolish him in a ring. The light heavyweight champion also said that Khabib's head and heart are too big to quit, so he'd most likely take a beatdown for a continuous twelve rounds.

In seeing Conor tap for the 4th time in his career, his kryptonite is apparent, and even Khabib dropped him on the feet. That simple implement within the fight led to many arguments as to whether Khabib could actually hang with Mayweather... as insanely ludicrous as that sounds.
Asides from the circus that the revelations of the UFC fight had, Conor McGregor is obviously going through a turmoil of his own. The whiskey ventures are seemingly a distraction since he already has all the money he needs.. and his excuses for the Khabib loss truly worry me.

He hasn't seemed to accept the circumstances of the loss unlike the time he lost to Nate Diaz. At 196 when he was finished by submission, he asked for an immediate rematch and studied the younger Diaz brother to do everything in his power he could to defeat him for the second affair.
I don't look forward to a rematch with Khabib as I feel the luster is gone with Conor McGregor. A big part of this man's game was mental warfare and the ability to dismantle an opponent before even stepping into the ring. I feel as though the illusion is gone... and Conor has become a shell of what he was.

Is Conor done, or will he ever be able to recover from this mess he's created for himself. The UFC will always have him fight for them, but he is no longer a champion so what card can he truly headline for all the marbles? It will be a slow trek to the top.. but maybe he can get there one more time!

He's done....and if he comes back, Khabib will whoop his ass again.

Khabib done turned my boy into a whiskey salesman 😩

A good fighter doesn't stay down for top long. He learns fr his mistake and comes back to action.

I can't see any world in where Khabib and Mayweather actually fight. I couldn't with Conor, but no way will Khabib vs Mayweather happen. May should fight Pac one last time.

I think Conor will come back, but I don't think an immediate, instant rematch with Khabib is what he needs - I think he will loose again, it wasn't close. Tony vs Khabib needs to happen. If GSP really wants to fight for the LW belt and make 155, why not have him vs Conor as a number 1 contender sport whilst Tony smashed Khaibib (I've always thought Tony will beat Khabib). I'm only mentioning GSP as Conor wants huge fights... but GSP will treat him like Khabib did , or worse. So how about Conor vs Poirier 2? I think that would be great, and a good stand up war, solid dude in Dustin.

Conor didn't look himself against Khabib, not just as he got smashed, but he was slower, and looked like he had just woken up as he walked into the ring - he physically did look fresh... too much 12 maybe?!
