The Big East Championship is on the line tonight when the 2nd ranked Villanova Wildcats face off against a hot Providence Friars team. The game tips off at 5:30pm Central Standard Time and can be seen on National Television on FOX. The game is being played at Madison Square Garden in New York. Villanova is a heavy favorite at -13.5 and the over/under is 144 points.

Villanova has everything working for them and precisely at the perfect time. Junior point guard Jalen Brunson has had a spectacular year and his name will be mentioned in every major award category. He is averaging 19 points per game and 4.7 assists and is the true leader on and off the court of this squad. Mikel Bridges is also playing fantastic basketball. His mix of outside shooting and his ability to slash to the rim has been unstoppable this year. Head coach Jay Wright has to be feeling very confident at not only their chances to win the Big East Conference Tournament tonight but also make another run at the Final 4 in San Antonio.

The Providence Friars have won 3 games in a row including Thursday’s win over Creighton and yesterday’s huge win over the 3rd ranked Xavier Muskateers. Leading the way this year has been forward Rodney Bullock. He is leading the team in scoring with 14.2 points per game. Guard Alpha Diallo has been the calming presence on the court that has kept this team composed. His back court partner, Kyron Cartwright has also had a strong season and the duo hopes to give the Villanova guards all they can handle tonight.

A win tonight for Villanova will secure them a number 1 seed. In fact, they may have already done that in the NCAA Tournament Committee’s eyes. A win for Providence will help them in their seeding. They are surely an NCAA Tournament Team and should not be worried about that.
