His angel..

It was 6.42pm, the men had arrived at the bar as usual. They hardly missed any day, they were four today. Mr Bala came with them , he must have decided to meet with them today because he hardly visits the bar.

Sara knew Mr Bala was friends with Mr. Odey, Mr Ishan, and Mr Ali but she also knew Mr Bala didn't drink as much as his friends.

Sara had been working at the bar for 7 months and she knew the men very well. The four of them were contractors and they work in the same firm. Mr Ali had a wife he was tired of, she had heard him complain severally and refer to his wife as an overfed pig.

Mr Odeh had a side chick who he recently rented an apartment for, he had been careful enough to hide this from his wife.

Mr Ishan hated women, but he loved to drink. He usually had more bottles of beer to drink than the others.

Mr Bala had a fiancée who he is serious with. He had plans to marry her but Sara had heard the men talk behind his back that she was a cheap whore.

She often wondered why Mr Bala remained friends with the trio. He obviously lived a different and simple life unlike his friends who visit the bar daily, gossiping and leaving drunk.

Sara didn't like working in the bar, but she needed the money to sponsor her education. She is an orphan who learnt to fend for herself early. As she took drinks to the men at the table she noticed they were particularly excited that evening.

Could it be that they had won the contract at last? Sara often eavesdrop on their discussion, that was how she knew so much about each of them.

She is their favorite bartender and is always at their beck and call. Mr Ali once asked her to be his girl friend but she refused, this however didn't stop them from requesting for her service always.
Sometimes they will call her and tease her, calling her their wife.

Going back to her post at the bar after serving the men, Sara saw Mr Bala stand to go and ease himself. He had barely finished a bottle of beer , she knew he wouldn't take more than a bottle, he wasn't used to drinking, he had barely gone out of sight when she saw Mr Odey bring out a small packaged white substance.

She continued looking curiously..then she saw Mr Ali sprinkle a little of the white substance into Mr Bala's unfinished drink.

Wow! she thought .... she quickly looked away pretending to be engrossed in a discussion with another customer who had been standing in front of her .

She kept thinking, what substance is that? it must be harmful.. why would Mr Ali and co want to harm Mr Bala? Sara knew she had to help Mr Bala. He was nice and friendly, and didn't deserve to be hurt. She immediately came up with a plan. As soon as she saw Mr Bala approach the table, she left her post at the bar, carrying drinks which wasn't ordered for.

As Mr Bala sat to continue with his drink, Sara rammed into him on purpose spilling the drink on his shirt.. all hell broke loose..

In a twinkle of an eye Mr Bala had been bathed with beer, Sara was on the floor, Mr Ali tried to hit her angrily, Mr Ideh began to scream what rubbish... what is the meaning of this.. Sara or what is your name.. what has come over you? who requested for you in the first place?

Mr Ishan was furious too...their plan had been ruined.. he had never liked Sara in the first place.

As Mr Bala struggled to his feet, he tried to help Sara up too asking his friends to keep quiet and let it go. But they wouldn't....the manager of the bar arrived the scene on hearing so much noise.

He immediately fired Sara, according to him, his top customers had been angered by her. As the men left the bar angrily, causing a scene, Mr Bala looked at Sara with pity then he gave her his card. "Call me"...

Sara was amazed...he didn't know what she had done for him, yet he wanted to help her...She made up her mind to keep the secret but she would find a way to let him know he was in danger. As she watched him leave, she went to pick her things and began to wonder how she would pay her rent for the month since her job was over..

She made up her mind to call Mr Bala the following day....
