Me Drumming At A Gig With My Old Band - Opening For The 90's Alt Rock Band, Sponge

Here's an uncomfortably close-up clip of me drumming (hooray) at a gig in 2016. The highlight of this show was meeting the drummer of a pretty popular 90's band called Sponge, and being asked for my first autograph ever on a CD. The autograph felt so weird, but it was a nice moment.

Sponge's hits with Sony Records were Plowed and Molly. I also got a picture with their drummer.

While I wouldn't say my clip is anything special, it does include one of my signature fills at 2:03, which is 16th note machine gun fire on the snare directly into the double-bass/splash cymbals in unison. I do it once more on the snare and larger crashes shortly after. I prefer to play the pattern as a faster burst, but our songs didn't call for it.

One bad or funny habit I had when playing usually took place at the end of songs. While the crowd would be clapping and the guitars swelling, I'd often look disinterested and quickly try to tighten up my hardware (focusing on what may have seemed loose after bashing around for the song). After the maintenance check, I'd then randomly jump back into the picture with cymbal swells or a tom/bass flam (seen here) to try to be the final cutoff before we moved on to the next song.

This song was written by the head of the band, Aaron. I just came up with my drum parts.
