🐳 Is Steemit = Easy Money? 🐳
Nobody should get comfortable with easy money, lest free money. You may find ways to make quick bucks, but it will never amount to anything significant. There is no such thing as free money, if you think I am wrong about that please let me know in the comments.
Most is not all of us want financial freedom, we also want to have more time to do things we really enjoy doing. For me this will be spending time with family, learning new things, reaching out to the community, growing things, and contributing to a better future of our planet. These are the same reasons why I am continuously learning to trade, farm, and contribute to this platform. Not because I think those are easier than what I currently do in my day job, but rather because I am more passionate about those, and I believe it will allow me to take more control of my time.
If your expectation of trading is being like this guy who sits by the beach with a portable and make lots of money, then you'd be gravely mistaken. I mean yes, you can execute trades this way, you can even do it with a mobile phone, but only after hours of going through the business news, financial statements, multiple time frame charts, running multiple scans, and watching tickers in large computer screens. The most successful traders work even when the market is closed. Traders are some of the most focused people I know.
The same way that the joy in farming is not without hard work. If traders are the most focused, farmers are the most hard working. They wake up really early, they go out to tend to the crops and livestock regardless of weather, and they get no day off.My grandparents were farmers, and I've personally experienced the hard work required in farming. This is specially true in a developing nation like the Philippines where we still plow using water buffaloes, where technological innovations enjoyed by first world farmers are not available.
So, is Steemit easy money? The short answer is no. I remember our English teacher in high school who would often tell us that if only second-hand brains can be sold, ours will be very expensive - because they are slightly used lol! So for someone with the quality of my slightly used brain, this is certainly not easy and I am glad that it is that way. If this was easy:- I wouldn't be as intrigued by how this works.
- I wouldn't have been comfortable continuing on.
- I wouldn't have gotten the reward of continuously trying to better myself.
Even @surpassinggoogle who made "mining with minds" famous had to go through the build up stage. I looked at the older posts of the most successful Steemians of today, and just like you and me, they had to work hard to get to where they are now.
Now there are people who do better than most, what about those? There are ways to advance in the platform faster. Some are good, and some are not so good. In my observation, people who do well (using the good ways) here faster than most either invested their money, or worked twice as hard as a normal Steemian. I don't think everybody is willing to do that. There are those of course who used other distasteful ways, and eventually found knocked down by whales whose stakes in the platform are of much weight.

nice post and I agree with pretty much everything you said here. I’m also working towards getting away from my day job hopefully in the next decade. It’s really hard to find the right combination of things to replace that income source though.
Trading is definitely not easy money. Those who make money doing it on a consistent basis are very few and far between. I would not expect to earn a living just from trading or just from steemit. However, I do plan on the two being some level of supplemental income on top of other things I’m working towards turning into steady income sources.
Too many people expect something for very little work lately. I see it here all to often when people get frustrated because they aren’t making tons of money right off the bat. They see how well others are doing and assume it was easy for the whales to get where they are today which isn’t really true in most cases.
Hey thanks for really taking the time read through my work. You're right, that's the same plan for me. We are saving up for a farm, continue my trading, and steem on. Hopefully by doing those three things along with other passive investments we'd be able to cover the current income from my day job.
Best of luck to your quest. I've been in the corporate world for 14 years now hoping to exit in 5 to 10 years. Hopefully 5 :-)
good luck to you too! I’ve been in the corporate world for 8 years now and every year it gets more stressful. The salary and the benefits are hard to walk away from but I’m convinced if I don’t get out eventually I’m going to wake up one day and my whole life will have passed me by and I’ll have nothing to show for it.
I earn money but I burn money fast too with my expensive medicine. I think it will be my companion for life too @steemitph I hope not.

Good thought sir. I can see you are very successful and I am sure it is because of your inside talent and not being worried about money.

Yes, minnows to becoming a whale is a journey. Not unless you have huge money to buy for Steem power. :D
You really can't expect something in exchange for nothing. The same goes with Steemit; Most of us do not directly invest money on the platform but we invest our skills, creativity, and most importantly time.
Correct! Your creativity, skills, and time are as important investment as money. Thank you for your support, and all that you do to support the growth of Steemit.
Totally agree! The formula has never changed since the ancient times - hard progressive work to attain what you seek. A quote I'd like to add to your train of thought, "“When no buyers were near, he talked to me earnestly to impress upon me how valuable work would be to me in the future: 'Some men hate it. They make it their enemy. Better to treat it like a friend, make thyself like it. Don't mind because it is hard. If thou thinkest about what a good house thou build, then who cares if the beams are heavy and it is far from the well to carry the water for the plaster. Promise me, boy, if thou get a master, work for him as hard as thou canst. If he does not appreciate all thou do, never mind. Remember, work, well-done, does good to the man who does it. It makes him a better man.” - ― George S. Clason, The Richest Man in Babylon
Behind every success is always an unprecedented hard work. It may not be apparent to some mainly because people tend to focus on how much they get instead of how they got it.
Yes sir. When I was younger. I thought all our managers were getting fat pay checks for doing nothing. Now I know I was very wrong.
