Bingsu 韩式刨冰
Bingsu is a Korean dessert that is perfect for summer. It is essentially shaved ice, but the ice is infused with milk giving it a creamy taste. The shaved ice is usually topped with fruits, syrup, ice-cream and all sorts of other stuff and can get quite extravagant.
There are a lot of Korean cafes in Eastwood and a lot of them serves Bingsu. We went to one on a hot summer day and ordered a green tea Bingsu.
在悉尼的伊士活有很多韩国咖啡馆里都可以吃到韩式刨冰. 在一个炎热的下午, 我们去了其中一家,点了个绿茶味的韩式刨冰。
The serving size was enough for at least two people. The Bingsu was served with sweet red beans, and two scoops of green tea ice-cream. It was also covered with matcha powder, giving it a slight bitterness that balances out the sweet nicely. My favourite part was the chewy rice cake with bean paste filling that was delicious when eaten with the shaved ice. The crunchy Almond flakes adds interesting texture to the deliciously complex desert. Perfect for cooling down a hot summer day.

We have similar dessert in Malaysia known as 'ais kacang'. Your pictures make me wants to go out for one.
Did you end up getting one? Would love to try the Malaysia version!

Wow... it looks funny.. it doesn't look like a dessert. I must try some time! cheers @stabilowl
Funny you say that! We were in Korea and went to order a dessert that looked like mango ice-cream with chocolate on the photo. It ended up being pumpkin mash with red beans 😄 ! So yeah, Korean dessert can be weird sometimes, but this one is definitely delicious! Thanks for stopping by @alexandraioana26
food is very challenging lust@stabilowl
It looks sooooooo good!
Yes it is very delicious!
It almost looks like Nachos with guacamole on top.... 😄
But it sounds delicious, we've got sweets in Cambodia with red beans and a sweet sticky rice... Doesn't look anywhere near as impressive as that does though.
We've got quite a few Korean restaurants here in siem reap.
Even a North Korean restaurant, which I have wanted to try, there are lots of mysterious roumers surrounding the north Korean restaurant, I've had a look once, but even for international restaurants, their prices are quite extreme.
Would love to try this one day.
Haha I suppose it does look like a big scoop of guacamole! Let me know when you try that restaurant! I wonder if there are any differences between North and South Korean food. I love sticky rice too! I have never tried Cambodian, but the Thai version of sticky rice dessert is very nice.
Will do.
The khmer sticky rice is nice. I've never tried the Thai Version. But I would Imagine it's delicious. I love Thai food. Khmer food is nice, but it's quite bland. I love spicy food, and most khmers don't.
Considering we are so close to Thailand, I thought we would have amazing Thai restaurants in Siem Reap... But in 6 years we haven't really found any amazing ones.
The best one we have found is a Belgium owned restaurant, he sells schnitzels and things, but his wife is Thai so there are a few Thai items on the menu... And they are amazing.
yummyyyyy
