A typical place in Provence : The mill of Alphonse Daudet / El molino de Alphonse Daudet
The mill Saint Pierre, also known as the mill of Alphonse Daudet, is a windmill located in France in Fontvieille, in the Bouches-du-Rhone. The mill has been classified as a historic monument since March 6, 1931.
It is attributed to Alphonse Daudet, a novelist from Provence, although he never lived there, he was even not the owner of the mill. But went there from time to time to find inspiration there and to write the famous "Lettres de mon moulin" which mean "letters from my mill".
El molino de Saint Pierre, también conocido como el molino de Alphonse Daudet, es un molino de viento situado en Francia en Fontvieille, en Bouches-du-Rhone. El molino ha sido clasificado como un monumento histórico desde el 6 de marzo de 1931.
Se atribuye a Alphonse Daudet, un novelista provenzal, aunque nunca vivió allí, ni siquiera era el dueño del molino. Pero a menudo fue allí para encontrar la inspiración y escribir las famosas "Lettres de mon moulin" que se puede traducir para "Cartas desde mi molino".
The old mill system was renovated in 2016. There are several mills of this kind in the region.

Grindstones were also used to grind grain (cereals, acorns, chestnuts, hazelnuts, locust beans, olives, etc.)

This book is a great classic in France, it is often given to read by teachers at school.
