I went on a hike yesterday in my desert mountains.

The first part of the hike was a steep, steep slow walk. Maybe about 300 feet in about 40 minutes.

I enjoyed a bowl of the good stuff after this hard trek and kept walking to the peak. There was nowhere to go once at the top, so I had to walk down the ridge until I found another way. I have an unwritten rule, never go back down the way you came.

Although the elevation and the drop offs were terrifying, I found that the bushes and plants provided a buffer between me and a tumble haha. So I slowly and carefully went down the way, hugging the mountain all the way to a clearing where I stopped and enjoyed being alive.

I found a trail that led back down the backside of the mountain, so I casually jogged and shuffled all the way down to the campsites.

It was exhausting and invigorating, nature has a way of humbling you, the wild stillness, brutal at any point in time yet beautiful always.
