06-07-2008 Wales Police helicopter incident - UFO Events
Video footage is from Brighton, from what I understand that is where this chase started in June of 2008. Which took this police helicopter and crew over a several hundred mile chase before having to stop at MOD St Athan to refuel.
"It was June 7th in Brighton UK, Partly cloudy but otherwise fair conditions. A breeze of 10-15 mph but that day. Three airmen flying a South Wales Police helicopter spotted a "flying saucer shaped" object and decided to give chase.
Following this UFO the helicopter and the three aircrew members got as far as the North Devon coast. At this time the helicopter ran low on fuel. But decided to cross the Bristol channel in chase of this UFO. Once crossing the body of water, a request by the Police helicopter crew was made to a near by Ministry of Defense base St Athan to refuel.
The helicopter broke off chase with this UFO to refuel and made its way into a hovering pattern waiting for clearance to land at St Athan. The police helicopter was hovering at 500ft, when those onboard saw the craft it was earlier perusing directly below them.
The UFO closed in at great speed heading straight for the helicopter, which the pilot responded by swerving sharply. "
This all occurred near the MOD St Athan base, It is home to No 4 School of Technical Training who provide continued training to personnel from all three Services and MOD civilian staff.
St Athan is also home to the University of Wales Air Squadron.
Classifying this case using the J. Allen Hynek scale it would be a 2. This is due to to the unknown aircraft heading straight for the helicopter making it need to swerve to avoid a collision. " interference in the functioning of a vehicle"
Definition of Close encounters of a second kind:
"A UFO event in which a physical effect is alleged; this can be interference in the functioning of a vehicle or electronic device, animals reacting, effects such as paralysis or heat and discomfort in the witness, or some physical trace like impressions in the ground, scorched or otherwise affected vegetation, or a chemical trace"
While researching this case, I came across some released MOD files that had a picture of a helicopter accompanied by three objects in the photo. This helicopter appears to be too old to be the one from the 2008 encounter, but seems that the UK has had previous unknown aircraft interactions in the past.
And in 2016 more footage obtained of UFOs moving across the Bristol Channel by a National Police Air Service helicopter's FLIR camera.
