PLAGIARISM
Plagiarism is the act of using someone else’s work as your own original work without citing the owner.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM
There are different types of plagiarism and have been outlined below;

SELF PLAGIARISM
This type involves the reuse of one’s own work which has already being submitted earlier. It is moderate and not that really considerate.

PARAPHRASING PLAGIARISM
It’s the type in which one rephrases the idea of another without citing the source. This type is very common but not accepted so therefore must be avoided.

MOSIAC PLAGIARISM
This is the type whereby one uses ideas from different sources without citing the sources.

GLOBAL PLAGIARISM
This one has to do with one taking the entire work of another person and try to use it as his own work. It is very dangerous and a severe form of plagiarism.

VERBATIM PLAGIARISM
It’s another type whereby one directly copies a passage of text from another person’s work without acknowledgment.

EFFECT OF PLAGIARISM
There are numerous effects of plagiarism but few has been enumerated below;

1. Plagiarism leads to low grades for that work
2. It leads to the failure of the course undertaken
3. It also leads to suspension

CITATION
This is the process of acknowledging of your readers that some ideas in your work aren’t from you but from different sources. Thus anytime you quote directly or paraphrase a person's work, a reference or citation should follow.

SOME TYPES OF CITATION STYLES USED

1. Chicago style
2. American Psychological Association(APA)
3. Modern Language Association(MLA)

CONCLUSION
Plagiarism is not good and we need to try all our possible best to stop it. It is also very important we cite ideas that doesn’t belong to us by giving credits to the original authors.
