Contribution of fisheries to national economy
All economic outcomes related to fisheries are considered as fisheries economy. National economic development, provision of nutrition, poverty alleviation, employment opportunities, Issues such as generating and increasing foreign trade profit etc are included in the fisheries economy. The role of the fisheries economy in these sectors is very fundamental. Fish has been an essential food in the diet of the people of this country since time immemorial is being considered. Bangladesh has considerable fishery resources. The contribution of the fisheries sector to the GDP of Bangladesh is about 3.69 per cent, the contribution of fisheries to the agriculture sector is about 23.12 per cent and the contribution to exports is about 2.01 per cent. In the financial year 2013-14, the amount of foreign exchange earned from the fisheries sector was 660.24 US dollars.

Review of Fisheries Production in the Last Ten Years (2006–2015):
Mangroves 0.19%, ponds 7.55%, floodplains 60.42%, semi-enclosed wetlands 0.89%, shrimp farms 5.29%, rivers and estuaries 18.38%, Sundarbans 3.81%, Bill 2. 45%, Kaptai Lake 1.48%. The role of fisheries resources or fisheries economy in the national economy of Bangladesh is described below-
As food
(i) The fisheries sector provides 60% of the total non-vegetables in the daily diet. The various components and their functions are available per 100 grams of fish as follows.

(ii) Many vitamins are available in fish (Like vitamin-A, and vitamin D in small fish), which are good for bones, and teeth, useful for skin and eyes, and many functions of the body.
(iii) Fish also contains a massive amount of calcium, iron, phosphorus, and iodine.
(iv) Small fish (Mala, Dhala, Punti) cure night blindness and anaemia in humans.
(v) Currently, FPC (Fish Protein Concentrate) is being produced through fish farming in the progressive world. In addition to 80% of the decent fish meat, it contains various essential minerals and vitamins. this
Looks like gum and is odourless. It can be eaten mixed with bread, biscuits, crackers, rice or vegetables, but does not require cooking. 3 grams of FPC instead of the minimum 26 grams of animal meat daily for a person can meet their needs. For this reason, in this advanced world, FPC needs to be mixed with soup or other liquid food to meet patients' essential nutrient needs in the hospital.
As a source of animal protein
- One of the sources of animal protein is fish such as roe, cuttlefish, shrimp, crab, shrimp etc.
- Lobster is low in fat and high in protein.
- Hard-shelled fish resources such as snails, squids etc. are sources of zinc, which help the body prevent disease.
Apart from the above-mentioned factors, fish resources have many other contributions that keep our economy healthy. I will try to present those articles in more detail for you some other day.

This is an interesting and informative article. I came to know a lot of new things about fishery industries.
I am surprised to see that floodplains contributes to 60.42% of the fishery production. So, flood is not that bad actually!! It contributes to some extent to our economy.
