SoCal Steemit Meetup - Prospecting and a Picnic in the East Fork

Hey there all you SoCal Steemians! It's that time again for another meetup! The weather is getting nice so for this SoCal Steemit meetup I thought we'd get outside! A few of our members have shown an interest in trying some gold prospecting so I was thinking about hosting this meetup on the East Fork of the San Gabriel river. Those that are interested in prospecting can meet me early and we can prospect all morning. And then in the afternoon we'll get a spot at the picnic area and those who are not really interested in prospecting can still join us for a fun picnic at 'The Oaks'!
Date - Sunday June 2nd
Locations/Times -
For prospecting - 8am at Pepe's Tacos in Azusa.

If you are planning to come prospecting you will want to bring a small back pack with some water bottles and some snacks. I can provide everything else we will need for prospecting.
The picnic will be potluck style so if you are coming please bring a dish to share with the group. You can RSVP by letting us know in the comments on this post, in the SoCal-meetups channel on our Discord server, or on our Meetup.com event. And as usual we will have free SoCal Steemit stickers for everyone who comes!
Please let me know what you think in the comments. And in a week or so, once I've gotten some feedback from you guys, I plan to write another more detailed invite post.

Love prospecting in East Fork. Haven't done it in about 5 years though lol. I found about 1/2 oz. Sounds like a great event. I'm in Santa Monica but without a car.
Sweet! Good to meet another fellow East Fork prospector here on Steem! I started prospecting the EF almost 7 years ago now. So who knows I might have seen you up there before! If we have any other members coming from that area I can see if they could give you a ride. Right now I've just got a few "maybes", but theres still lots of time.

Oh, nice! So like 4+ miles up the trail. I know people really like to dig that bend right before the cut up to the high trail to the bridge. Jay has been there for years now. I usually go past the bridge a couple miles up near Iron fork.
even better in the narrows but it's exhausting getting up there.
Ya it is, but I love it up there. I often get told by some of the other prospectors that I hike right passed a bunch of better spots on the way to my spot. But I like being way out there.
Sounds like a fun time that I might skip dance class to join you guys.
