Boat in Zhouzhuang, China 周庄的船

Zhouzhang, a historic water town, is one of the villages near Shanghai that has been described as the Venice of China. My friend I went there by chance in 2015 because we could not get train tickets to Hangzhou to see the famous Xihu (West Lake) since we did not bring our passports out. We were told we could buy bus tickets without our passports so we decided to go to Zhouzhuang.

Entry fee is 100 yuan and you can pay extra for a boat ride on the canal. You can often hear crisp, clear singing from the women operating the boats. It was a pity my friend and I had to catch the bus back to Shanghai after only an hour and a half there. I hope for a chance to go back.

周庄真是一个美丽的水乡。我和朋友本来想去西湖，但是我们没带护照, 所以没法买火车票。但我们被告知可以买公车票。我们决定去周庄，因为它离上海只有几个小时的车程。门票100元，很多游客喜欢乘船欣赏河边的景色, 倾听掌舵的人清脆的歌声。来匆匆, 去匆匆, 希望有机会再回去。
