Decorations for the Buildings of Ruined Hoeamsa Temple in Yangjoo City
There was a room for the exhibition for the decorations of the buildings in Hoeamsa temple. It looked to be excavated under the ground. Most of the decorations were found in tearing part into pieces.
There were two kinds of decorations in the exhibition room.
The first was the dragon’s head.
In oriental society, the dragon was the sacred animal.
In Buddhism, the dragon was the messenger of Buddha’s teaching and the symbol of protecting Buddhism temple against the fire.
In explanation board, the dragon’s head was hung at the end of the beam.
The other one was the animal’s head.
Here the animal must be an imaginary, but there was no explanation for this animal’s head.
This animal’s head was decorated at the end of the eaves according to the explanation.
@slowwalker,
This unknown animal head exactly looks like dragon head of most of our ancient temples! I think the craftsman who crafted those relics and craftsman who crafted dragons in my country had a link in those times! Nice photography and thanks for sharing those wonderful experiences with us!

That's one scary piece of sculpture.. It looks like a kind of fire-dragon head.
It cool though.
Regards buddy
the decoration will complete if there is explanation. In my mind it is a part of Kala and Makara, guardian in the temple. They are imaginary creature look like a dragon or a beast.
Thank you @slowwalker

I really like The Dragon Head. The Dragon is Strength................
Interesting, I like that dragon head, well conserved, actually I love dragons in general, but until now never tried to draw or paint may be will do in near future.
What I noticed next to exposition there is a thermometer with temperature and humidity indicator, seems people very cared about the condition where the examples are kept.
its a really amazing photography sir
I always enjoy your post.. Happy nice day
