MAN O WAR drills in one fun aspect in the NYSC orientation camp. Man o war officials are always around and ready to help us out with these activities.

At about 3pm Nigeria time, my platoon members were already paraded to the field for the drills.

We were asked to put on our 6/7 NYSC uniform, that is the complete army green khaki uniform except the crested vest.

I was happy to be part of the drill. In the past few years, I have been seeing a lot of colleagues and friends in this uniform. I was happy for them and I wished one day I'll be a part of the activities.

While we were gathering, we received an orientation first from what is expected of us during the drill.

Each activity has a significant meaning and what it stands for. Before I continue, I'll love to mention most qualities these activities are trying to build in us.

Humility, team work, consistency, endurance, creativity, wisdom etc. When in the face of a difficult situation or war outbreak, we can sought ourselves using necessary equipment and opportunities available.

It was time to participate in each of these activities. The commandant as he is called took us on a tour on these activities and explained with examples how they are done. He also told us that the officials around will help us during the process.

Truth is some activities were very stranoeus and very tasky. The activities aren't compulsory actually so you do or not do them.

In Fact it was announced that people with outstanding health conditions who cannot participate in these activities can step aside to avoid unnecessary emergencies and health hazards.

I started with the very simple activities to the very tough ones. Various activities we carried out during the man o war drills included:

  • Endurance trek
  • 12 feet jump
  • 6 feet jump
  • Sliding rope
  • Hook crawl
  • Tiring
  • Rope climbing
    And lots more…

These activities help in terms of bodybuilding, teaching qualities, they teach us how to persevere even in difficult situations.

I learnt a lot from this activities most of which requires patience, and teamwork. During this activities, i took pictures for memories sake.

We had a lot of fun during this activities. I am happy I participated in this activities to mark my stay in the camp.

I hope to actively participate in this activities till I leave the camp

I'll keep sharing my experience until the end of my stay here. Stay tuned!!!

Thanks for the compliment
The particular activity that has to do with climbing the robe at a very great height seems to be the most memorable and challenging ofcourse.

I naturally have phobia for height so it was a little bit difficult to attempt it. I just kept having motivation from the commandant and believe me I did perfectly well. I was amazed at my performance and I'm glad I tried in the first place.

I also feel humility and teamwork stands out for me. To succeed, we all need this two qualities
