Image of the day, king oyster mushroom.
I finally found a store that sells king oyster mushrooms. These are one of my favorites as they go well in any soup and work well stir fried. In the past i have tried growing these on my own from kits but they never sprouted anything. If you ever see these in a store give them a try they are way more interesting than button mushrooms.
What do they taste like. I have never even seen those.
They have a mild taste and consistent texture. This makes them good for absorbing various spices in soups and gravy. They have a unique taste raw, which kind of resembles licorice but when cooked that goes away.
