Dear Steemit Gaming... I Want YOUR Opinion!

in #gaming7 years ago

Hello Steemit,

Firstly, I just want to say what a great platform Steemit is. I've only been here for nearly two weeks but already I've enjoyed every second that I've spent here. The community as a whole is fantastic and I've discovered some excellent content and had some great discussions. Long may it continue!

As some of you may know, or will hopefully know after reading this, I'm the founder and editor of a gaming news and review website called Gaming Respawn. We've been around since 2015 but I've been writing about games for longer than that. Like most smaller publications, we have a real problem making ends meet. We're not in it to be famous or to make a load of money. We do what we do because we love gaming and we love writing about games.

Thankfully, we found Steemit! In the short time that we've been here, we've written a mixture of Steemit exclusive articles and posted some directly from our site. The reception has been great and to top it all off, we've made more money through Steem Dollars and Steem in that short period of time than we would make in a few months through traditional advertising. For us, that's huge and it means we can focus on writing about games rather than worrying about getting enough views to pay the bills. It truly is a weight off our shoulders!

Now the reason for writing this blog post to you all is because we want to hear from you about the reasons why you use Steemit, particularly the gaming category and what sort of content you would like to see.

We truly believe in Steemit and in what it is trying to achieve. We feel that it is revolutionary and with the upcoming release of Smart Media Tokens, this platform could really be a game changer.

So to all you Steem gamers, we have a few questions for you. We would love it if you would take a few minutes out and answer them as thoroughly as possible.

1) Do you use Steemit Gaming to just post your content or to read content from other people? Both?

2) Would you like to see more gaming news posted on Steemit instead of having to visit traditional gaming publications for your news?

3) What sort of gaming content do you enjoy the most on Steemit?

4) Would you like to see a specific, separate category called GamingNews for... gaming news?

5) Do you welcome publications using the Steem platform to share their content?

6) Should only Steem exclusive content be posted on Steem?

7) Are you happy with articles being copied and pasted onto Steem from other websites, even if the author or verified site has posted it here?

8) Anything else you want to add...

Please post your answers to these questions as a comment below and hopefully we can have some good discussions about what's best for Steem and how to move forward.

I look forward to reading your answers and discussing some of the points in more detail.

Thanks!

Sort:
  1. Do you use Steemit Gaming to just post your content or to read content from other people? Both?
    Mostly for reading.

  2. Would you like to see more gaming news posted on Steemit instead of having to visit traditional gaming publications for your news?
    Yes.

  3. What sort of gaming content do you enjoy the most on Steemit?
    Anything at all, really.

  4. Would you like to see a specific, separate category called GamingNews for... gaming news?
A simple hashtag should suffice, right?

  5. Do you welcome publications using the Steem platform to share their content?
    Yes

  6. Should only Steem exclusive content be posted on Steem?
No. Steem exclusive content should be there, but if some great content exists, I don't mind seeing it on steem.

  7. Are you happy with articles being copied and pasted onto Steem from other websites, even if the author or verified site has posted it here?
As long as it doesn't become spam, yes.

Awesome thanks for taking the time to answer the questions :) For the GamingNews category, I was thinking as putting it as a tag and hopefully it can grow from there.

I think you can freely share your articles here :) I would be happy to read them

Thank you :) Just wanting to gauge what kind of content people want to see and how they feel about it.

  1. Do you use Steemit Gaming to just post your content or to read content from other people? Both?
    I read the content

  2. Would you like to see more gaming news posted on Steemit instead of having to visit traditional gaming publications for your news?
    Yes

  3. What sort of gaming content do you enjoy the most on Steemit?
    Reviews :)

  4. Would you like to see a specific, separate category called GamingNews for... gaming news?
    Yes

  5. Do you welcome publications using the Steem platform to share their content?
Yeah, I think it's good to help grow Steem

  6. Should only Steem exclusive content be posted on Steem?
I don't mind as long as the content is good

  7. Are you happy with articles being copied and pasted onto Steem from other websites, even if the author or verified site has posted it here?
Yeah so long as they're from the original author

Thanks for your answers, appreciate it :)

  1. I would say I use Steemit to both post things about gaming as well as read what others have to say.

  2. I traditionally don't visit many gaming websites for news other than what Google shows me on my Google Now feed on my phone. I consume more gaming news on Steemit than anywhere else.

  3. I enjoy people's reviews of games. Giveaways are always nice, too. I think I would appreciate more posts about good deals on PC games since it's hard to keep up with various discounts on great games that happen sometimes.

  4. Specific categories are always nice. Most of the time I can tell what's news and what's not just in the #gaming category, however, there's definitely nothing wrong with using #GamingNews

  5. I would gladly welcome any publication that wants to port its content over to Steemit. I think being able to give rewards based on the value I get from the articles is a fantastic incentive for them.

  6. I have no issues with you using content you post on Steemit elsewhere. Since all of the posts on Steemit are public, it might just take a bit more searching for someone to find it, and since that's the case, I wouldn't feel any need for Steemit-exclusive content.

  7. I'm never happy with blatant copy and paste, even if someone says where they got the content. If it's your content from another site, I have no issue with you posting it here. However, if it's someone else's, at least make an effort to generate some original ideas. Do a commentary on someone else's review, even, but don't just copy and paste.

  8. I think the gaming community has room to grow here on Steemit. Thanks for taking the time to ask these questions. I hope to see more great content from you in the future.

Hello :D I am still new to Steemit, so I have not seen much of the gaming posts. We really do have to weed through them. I think that having a gaming news tag would be beneficial. I play WoW too so, I would love to see someone like Fat Boss do the beta testing for games.
