What is Love?? My Perspective

in #love8 years ago (edited)

Still in the spirit of Love let me try to portray my perspective. In the preceding post What is Love I wanted to get the public's opinions about love. Thanks to @kennyc and @lordrex Comments I got some insights about this. Generally we believe that love is a "selfless act" where we consider another's happiness sometimes at the expense of ours; this is one way to look at it. To understand my perspective you need to answer the question Why do you offer love?

Love is offered when the withdrawal of it does not feel good to you as a person. For example when you see someone in need and you are inclined to help, its because not helping the person feels like the wrong thing to do, and by showing love to that person, you feel good about yourself. In other words it's for a "self-ish" reason that we offer love. Not the familiar context of this word "selfish" but in the view that you are always rooting for your happiness

My Perspective
Love is unconditional.
Love can be everything the bible says, however, the "love your neighbor as your self" instruction has left most of us lost and trapped at the mercies of another's appreciation. We have grown to find love in places things and people, when truly the love is within. The world and the people in it are constantly changing, uncontrollably. It's why our love today is filled with much compromise and discomfort.
If your intent is love but the offering of it doesn't feel good to you, you are practicing self deprivation. For example: Staying in a relationship for the sake of love when you know to yourself that your passion is somewhere else. So I say boldly that *"Self sacrifice for the sake of another's happiness is *not love"
True love/Unconditional love can only be found within, the love we share amongst ourselves is only a product of our self love.

How Can You Love Yourself
Love is Charity. Logically you cannot offer something that you lack, so you must love yourself before loving others. Love yourself not necessarily by acquiring material things and taking care of your body (giving to yourself), but also by protecting your happiness, offering appreciation, for you life, your planet, the people in it and it's diversity (giving to others). Love does not segregate or discriminate it appreciates the good and the bad; the good for being good and the bad for highlighting how much the good is wanted.

In summary my answer to the question "What is Love" is: Love is everything imaginable that feels good, what distinguishes true love is that it is offered to preserve happiness of both the giver and the receiver. The power of your love is to the extent of your imagination.

Thank you very much for reading through. This is what I believe love to be, but then again beliefs are just practiced thoughts. Feel free to tell me if you have contrary opinions, there is no right or wrong, we are always learning!

Until next time.... Anticipate greatness!!!

I love your post! Thumbs up!

I agree with the "rooting for own Happiness comes first".

The stronger a sense of Oneness we develop within the more clearly we see it without. So when we feel this natural drive to help it provides a chance to reinforce our inner Awareness of Oneness and this will be redirected to the other one. And we can only give our best version to others by treating ourselves best first.

So the term "Self-ish" simply means that we alone have responsibility for our experience, which is necessary to become a conscious co-creator of realities once again ;)

Yes. Im glad you like it

love is the greatest of all i like the pink tree picture so colorful thumbs up

Thank you 😊😊
