The Most Adventurous Thing I Have Ever Done.

It's another day to participate in a wonderful contest organised by @goodybest. The contest is titled The Most Adventurous Thing I Have Ever Done. Indeed it's a nice contest which I will like to share my experience with everyone.
This will be a story of how we went to search for Salad leaf in the forest while I was staying in Cross River with my parents. It's an adventure I can't forget in a hurry and that is why I want to share it with you all. Please read till the end and see how the story unfold itself.
It was on a Saturday as usual, Saturdays are meant for clean up, searching for firewood and many more. It is the only free day we have since there is no work and there is no school. Usually during the Saturdays we go out to search for firewood but this time, the narrative changed hence we had to go and search for Salad leaf.
We set out to a nearby forest called Mallam. It is atleast 20 KM away from the barracks where I stay and since it is a bush track, you don't see the distance as something much and also since we were much going for this search, it was fun discussing and moving together.
We took a lot of time to arrive the bush where these leaf was and when we got there, we decided to divide ourselves in pairs so that we can cover the entire bush and also explore to see where the leaf are more within the forest.
Myself, I was new to this type of search and the leaf wasn't a familiar one so anytime I see something that looks like it, I will call my pattern to confirm before we can go ahead to cut it. We kept doing this through out the area we were told to go.
At some point we went very far into the forest and we weren't hearing the sounds or talk of the other people because initially when we keep quiet we can here some pairs talking to each other. So when we noticed we couldn't hear from them again I adviced my pattern that we should go back with the little we have gotten and wait for them at the waiting spot.
He insisted that we should continue the search because we haven't gathered any tangible thing. I agreed with him and we kept moving ahead and searching for the leaf. At some point, we meet a place that was fully covered with the leaf so we immediately cut a lot such that we couldn't carry all of it to the waiting place.
We sat down and started strategizing on how we can reach the other because there was no phone or any means of communication with us at that moment. So my partner pleaded that I go and call the others to this location since we have enough that will be sufficient for everyone.
Happily I started going, following the tracks we followed to enter into the forest but at some point I missed out my way and couldn't understand the road any longer. I kept turning round and round in the forest but never saw my way out. It was after an hour or more that I saw a very big snake on one of the parts I wanted to take since I was alone and can't even go close to the snake I started running.
The snake chased after me for a while so where I later found myself was the place where some of the people I was going to call were resting because they were tired of the search. When I told them what was chasing me the stood up and then carried their cutlasses and got themselves set for the coming of the snake.
We stood there for a while but couldn't see or hear from the snake again. I told them about the place we found and that they should help me get to others as well so that we can all go and pick as many as we can.
So that was how that very adventure ended because we all went and plugged as many salad leaf as possible and everyone went back home with something tangible. It was a beautiful day for me because I was able to bring the expected back to my home.

I understand that you have dense forests in your area full of snakes and other animals so if you go in search of anything and encounter them, it's very much possible. However, a snake chasing you is something different. I have already posted and wish you a nice contest.

The fear of the unknown. Snake's are humans enemy and everyone will wish to kill if the come across. Thank God you were safe.
Wow that was adventurous indeed! But the chasing of snake was scary! Haha 😂, I don't know salad leaves, and this is the second time I'm reading about it, is it lettuce 🥬? Thanks for sharing your experience with us, success!
