The final result of my new oil painting!
Well, it's done! The oil painting on paper that I started yesterday (you can see the work in progress here) it done! As usual, working on paper (200 gr) it's faster than on canvas, even if I have to say that I really love to work on canvas because the texture is more interesting for me ^_^
Now this "sailor man" (maybe he's "a wolf of the sea"? ^_^) is drying fast and after it will be ready to sell ^_^
So, just a curiosity: here in Italy, for the old sailor that spent their life over the sea, we use the term "lupo di mare" that means "wolf of the sea", but searching on the net I found also the term "sea dog", so I ask you: where you live, do you use "sea wolf" or "sea dog" or others?

Lovely. As far as I know we have no specific moniker for sailors in my native tongue but not sure about the other local dialects/languages.
The italian language is more complex than english and we have many different dialects so it's possible that in other regions of my country they call him in other way :)

I know of the phrase 'an old sea dog' never heard of wolf! Cool painting :D
Good to know, here in Italy we use the wolf instead of the dog ^_^
The first time I looked I saw a man with a gray beard. The second time I looked I saw a man submerged in water up to his nose. It's a fun image kind of an optical illusion.
