Sketching a face ^_^

in #art5 years ago

Taking a little break from the other works, after the lunch I had fun sketching a simple face. I used my oil colors on a sheet of paper and, as you can see, it's not one of my usual "rounded head" character. I was inspired by some  comics made by Gipi, an italian illustrator that I love. My attention was focused by his nose and so I decided to try to sketch something similar. It was a nice exercise to do, believe me ^_^

Usually, during the art classes, students exercise their hands studying/copying famous ancient artworks, so they can learn how to paint in different styles. For my exercises, I love to study also some illustrations and/or comics, so I can improve my skills to paint my own characters.

Just to know, the sketch in the pic is not a copy of a comic character by Gipi, I just "mixed" a bit of that and a bit of this to see if all that things could work together in a single face ^_^

I worked on it in the lab, hunging up the sheet on a easel, because I have a bit of back pain and so I prefer to work placing the sheet there.

There is a bit of chaos in the corner where I'm working and the Christmas tree looks not happy to stay there ^_^

Well, I have to come back at work,

see ya soon
