The Disney Bullion series from the New Zealand Mint has been popular to both with Disney fans and silver stackers not only because they are beautifully struck, but they are reasonably priced.
I am a Disney fan and a silver stacker, but I am one who cannot afford to pay high premiums to collect a series of coins.
I previously showed the first of the Disney Bullion series : 2017 Silver Steamboat Willie.
The coin featured in this article is the second of the Disney Bullion series.
2018 Niue 2 Dollar Silver Disney Scrooge McDuck BU
1-oz .999 fine silver from the New Zealand MintScrooge McDuck is a popular Disney character featured on this silver coin with a bag of money!
Unlike most Disney characters, Scrooge McDuck did not get his start in film. Instead, he made his debut in a December 1947 Issue of Dell’s Four Color Comics in a story entitled “Christmas on Bear Mountain” loosely based on the acclaimed 1843 story “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens. Originally intended as a one-shot appearance, the wealthy old duck proved so popular that he became a recurring character who got his own comic book in 1952 titled Uncle Scrooge, where he was portrayed as Donald Duck’s uncle. It wasn’t until 1967’s animated cartoon “Scrooge McDuck and Money” did we finally get to hear his voice – a thick Scottish accent.
Coin Highlights:
- Obverse: Features the Ian Rank-Broadley likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by the country and face value.
- Reverse: Features Donald Duck's rich uncle, Scrooge McDuck, with a bag of money. Also featured is the metal weight, purity, and Disney copyright for further authentication.
- Sovereign coin backed by the Niue government.

I'm not quite into Disney characters as I'd be more into... the Nightmare before Christmas crowd. But we know Scrooge is quite the stacker.

MINNIE!!! It is because coin designers are discounting the gals! I wonder this about the marvel coins. So far all male characters.... completely ignoring the gals.
