The ingot case study cont..

Previously on Steemit I posted about a new ingot I aquired. I certainly took a chance on it. As I had never seen one of this variety. In that post I mentioned I had a contact who would be able to confirm authenticity.

Well that contact got back to me. Confirming he was not familiar with this variety. Further confirmation that the ingot in question is not authentic. Seen below is a group of ingots all confirmed authentic. They were also confirmed to be produced by the same maker. The last ingot on the right is the ingot in question. .

☝️The size and thickness is much different. The ingot is longer and thinner. If all the other 3 authentic varities were NOT the same exact demensions. I would consider the bar on the end to be less questionable. The alarming difference and only different ingot screams red flag.

☝️Another add to the Red flag list. The indented sides. Which is not a common charactoristic. This photo also highlights how thin the ingot is.

Unfortunately, in this market it is difficult to get 100% confirmation on the authenticity. You need to do your homework. Note all of the difference. Then make an educated assumption.

@silveringots really an interesting lookimg bar and I can see where you would be suspicious given the differing dimensions. Although there are examples of variety with different makers but I am not as versed as you are on the subject. The vintage ingot area is not my specialty. Thanks for sharing brother!!

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look @dwingsworld.

Ah, that sucks. Hopefully you didn't go to hard into it.

@methus it's all or nothing with me. Of course I went hard $600+.

🤪 is it at least silver? Maybe it can go on the pile you sell when silver hits $100 an oz.

Haha that would be great if it was silver. It's some sort of thin metal.
