A new silver ingot study!

One of the best parts about collecting is the research that goes into it. Some markets have more documented history then others. When it comes to silver ingots. It's not easy! Lack of documentation during the most collectable time periods is a constant battle.

That being said! I have a pair of silver ingots that have caught my eye. A unique hallmark demonstrating a capitol G with a small s inside. I have NOT been able to put much time in researching this hallmark. I plan to do so very soon.

Here are the ingots I am studying. I assume both were production attempts at 5oz class ingots. Production back then wasn't easy and ingots are often odd weights. Technology wasn't even close to what it is today.

I want to start off with this article. Because it reveals the ingots I am focusing on. My follow up article will show some of the charactoristics I intend to study. This process demonstrates a proper analysis of a vintage silver ingot. Hope you can find it somewhat educational. Cheers!
