A Fractured Toe?? My View for the Day

Hi Friends!

Well... I sadly broke my good fitness streak today. Last night I was moving my piano bench after jamming with the girls (and let’s be honest - a few margaritas in) and I dropped it... right on my big toe.

It hurt like a mother for a few minutes, but then I didn’t think anything of it. This morning however - I woke up to a totally swollen toe that I couldn’t bend or walk on.

I have no idea if its fractured - or just really swollen, but it’s actually starting to turn colors now too. I’ve spent the whole day alternating between icing it, elevating it and applying this arnica/canabis cream I have.

I’m going to head to my chiropractor tomorrow to have him check it out and let me know what he thinks. Fingers crossed he says it will be back to normal soon. I’ve just been feeling so energized about being active lately - that sitting around all day today was such a bummer.

Luckily I work from home tomorrow so I can continue the icing/elevating routine with ease. It’s a little easier to do on my couch vs. my desk at work!

I tried to post my whopping sub 500 steps... but apparently not even Actifit wants to hang with my sorry ass today. 😂

  • Sat on my ass most of the day keeping my foot elevated. On the plus side... I got extra @steemonboarding work done!

  • I totally ate clean today - since I couldn’t workout I was a little more conscious of what I ate.

Dumped leftover pico de gallo from last night’s party all over my eggs this morning. Yuumm!

I accidentally bumped into a previous post of yours and wanted to let you know of the minimum of 5000 activity to be rewarded and now I see this .. :(
I hope you recover very soon, if it makes you feel better, it does not seem fractured, however do expect it to change almost all the colors of the rainbow in the next 5-7 days.
I had broken my little toe (sorry, not sure if it has a specific name) and it took me a while to come back to normal. However I was trying to practice my tae kwon do, regardless.
Ice and keeping it at a higher level will certainly help (and rest too)
I will be looking forward for your updates on this :)

You can still work on those abs and do seated yoga.

And maybe strap yer phone to the dog and let him take care of yr steps.

A couple of days rest is good for everything to heal up anyway.

hahah that dog trick would be brilliant if I had one! Interesting you mention seated exercise because I was just thinking the same thing! Once a long time ago I sprained my ankle pretty bad and did a ton of non weight bearing exercises. I'll have to look those up again. :)

ouch fractures are the worst! I hope its able to heal up quickly and you can start getting around better asap. There are still many other things you can do to supplement the walking/running. All the best

aww thanks my friend. <3 Yeah I was just thinking that I should look into some non weight bearing exercises. I could do some seated arm workouts with weights, or do crunches and stuff like that. :)

Aww thanks my friend. Yep, I went to the chiropractor and nothing seems to be fractured and there is no tendon damage. The swelling is slowly coming down and I’m getting a little more mobility every day. Just gotta keep up the icing/elevating routine. 😊

I'd get a second opinion outside of a chiro though. They're good at what they do, but there will be too much swelling for them to effectively diagnose anything. If anything is displaced, the bone can sometimes quickly be reset into place (which would avoid future rebreaking to reset it for long term healing). I'd get a scan ASAP if you feel it's broken because the window for manual adjustments before they have to let the swelling run its course is small.

The swelling is coming down everday and my mobility is increasing. Just gotta keep with the icing/elevating routine.

Wow, that is awful! Hope it gets better so you can continue the @actifit grind! Rest is a great idea for somethijg like that.
