Sparkle Festival

Hanging between Exams and celebrating festivals (like Ganesh Chaturthi and Navratri), life has been busy and hectic since last couple of months . Thankfully before the chaos of Diwali started we were done with our exams.
With Diwali, begins the new year in Hindu calendar though according to Georgian calendar this is the last festival of the year.
The preparations start with cleaning of the house with a belief that goddess of wealth, Lakshmi, visits the house which is clean and devoid of any clutter be it physically or mentally. Besides cleaning of homes it is an opportunity for cleansing our heart and soul and inner light brightening our life.
Any festivities are incomplete without our kitchens smelling of goodies made at home. The smell of savouries and sweets wafts the air which mixes with the smell of burning firecrackers. It is the most beautiful sight with the streets and the houses adorned with flowers, rangoli, lights and diyas.
I was never good at making rangoli but this time with the help of you tube videos, my daughter and I made reasonably good rangoli which we were very proud of 😆that we kept on opening the door to have a look and appreciate it. “Apne muha, miya mithu “! I know!😬

Amidst exchanging Diwali wishes and catching up with friends, I was pleasantly surprised when my daughter announced that she will be going to old age home to celebrate Diwali with them. No doubt a meaningful celebration increases the festivity spirit even more. These gestures made by kids assure that there is hope for a better future!

With arising problem of environment conditions, there was substantial amount of decrease in firecrackers this year.

It was indeed somewhat silent yet sweet and bright Diwali!
