SEC17 WK:#5: caring for aged and dependent relatives in the family.

Assalamu Alaikum everyone. Today I am going to participate in the Engagement Challenge organized by the Steem Kids & Parents community. Where the challenge lies in caring for elderly and dependent relatives in the family. The content really represents a lot of values with the present times. Caring for elderly and dependent relatives in the family falls under the responsibility of many of us. I will share my views on this subject with you through this competition.

We want to know if you have dependent relatives in your family and how your family has been caring for them.

Almost all of us have elderly members and dependent relatives in our families. I never think of them as a burden on the family or the society. I consider them as an integral and important part of the family. Also, we should pay more attention to these elderly and dependent relatives rather than burdening them.

My family also includes elderly and dependent relatives. Most of them are physically and financially poor. I helped them with most of the money. Apart from that, I have met their needs. I take care of my family not only my parents but also all my relatives who are there as per my ability.

I always try to keep the elderly in the family physically fit. I am at least serious about taking their body check-up, taking medication properly, getting timely medical check-up and keeping them socially active.

We will also like to know whether you are doing that out of joy or forced.

I feel a lot of joy when I can care and help people. I help and care not only my family members but also strangers outside the family in various ways. Elderly members of the family are the source of knowledge of a family. They are a symbol of reliability and love of family. They are also our future guides. It is our responsibility to take proper care of them.

The strong pillars of a family are the elderly and dependent relatives in the family. And I take care of them with great pleasure. Because elderly and dependent relatives in my family often struggle in different situations and have a hard time. In that sense, they are a source of inspiration for me. They play the role of my mentor and are by my side in any situation I face. So I will gladly take care of them forever.

What makes them dependent? Age or circumstances? The joys you derive from caring for them. Tell us your own story.

Judging from my experience, I would say that both age and circumstances make the elders of the family dependent. I have many elderly relatives who were greatly affected by their circumstances. I find the joy of caring and helping them as well as the peace of mind in the work. I will present to you a story from my real life:

This is the case of 2022, my close relative, who happens to be my mother's sister. Who is approximately 61 years old. She suffered two heart attacks that year. She survived the first heart attack somehow. But his condition became critical after a second heart attack. Her heart rate had dropped to around 30. The doctors announced their final results that there was no chance of his survival.

Meanwhile, their financial situation was so bad that they could not afford to undergo bypass surgery. At that time, my entire family including me extended a helping hand to them. I talk to the doctors. And I have made all the arrangements for his advanced treatment. Also, during the few days I was kept in CCU, I used to take care of my aunt in the hospital every day after finishing work. I have tried my best to cure him with advanced treatment and care.

About four and a half lakh Bangladeshi taka was required for my aunt's treatment. I talked to various aid agencies and NGOs and got some grants. I and my family spent the rest of the money. After her successful bypass surgery I served my aunty day and night. The biggest success and happiness in this situation is that my aunt came back alive at that moment due to God's infinite mercy and my efforts. Last but not least, service to people is a human quality whose dignity I have duly respected.
