"Art Materials I Use in Drawing Portrait" by @shelouveloso

Today I want to share with you the materials I use in drawing portraits. It's only few but I am still satisfied with the result. 😊

These two pencils are the only pencils I used. A graphite pencil in the shade no.2 and a hard charcoal pencil. In my last post I mentioned there that I only used these 2 and I have never tried using various shades of pencils, like the picture below.

With only 2 pencils, I focused on controlling the pressure I put on the pencil to create a light or dark shade. If I want to make a light shade, I will sharpen the lead of the graphite pencil and apply a light pressure to it while holding the top of the pencil. I use this pencil in making outlines. If I also want to make a darker shade, I use a charcoal pencil and for the graphite, I will press it hard, not too hard as it will be difficult to blend and it will leave a mark on the paper.

In blending, I used blending stump, makeup brushes, cotton, at cotton buds. The blending stump and makeup brush is for charcoal pencil or powder, cotton buds for graphite, and the cotton is for both.

For my charcoal powder, I simply rub the lead of my charcoal pencil with sandpaper to make it a powder.

My eraser is just a rubber eraser.It does not erase the charcoal very well that's why I have to be very careful in using the charcoal, I make sure I can't make a mistake.
Another one is a sharpener to sharpen my pencils and a bond paper as my drawing paper.
